Gas prices are now 2.09 Litre for regular, whoohoo, we have the highest gas prices in North America. (7.90 CA dollars per US gallon)

@Chilly I had a cousin from Germany come to visit back in 2000. She wanted to pay for a tank of gas in my 4 cylinder hatchback, because it was the least she’d ever seen gas priced at. It was a bit of a gas war, and the price was only (CAD) 45 cents a litre at the time. I think it’s $1.60ish now.

Just started school as an art student two weeks ago, I'm hoping my third year in college will be better now that I'm studying to be a potter!

Hi Callie, This may not even be the appropriate space to be asking such a question however I saw you address a similar subject and wondered if you could give me any input on the process of attaching the bottom glass piece to the premade ceramic piece as in Miso Tanaka's work.
I have written to her multiple times with no response. I am completely dedicated to whatever work it takes to accomplish this.
Thank you very much.

I just read a comment you made regarding clay for outside use. You mentioned bird baths and that's exactly what I am going to make. Can you recommend a clay body you like for this use? Could I use a cone 6 glaze? Thanks so Much

Hi,
I just joined and tried to get an answer for recovering dried glazes. I have a glaze that breaks into "rocks" and if I add water they don't dissolve. This glaze had been frozen and thawed from a move and is in a 5 gallon bucket, with pretty good seal. The water I had added is still there and so are the rocks of glaze. Can I add CMC or something to melt the rocks?
Thanks,
LadyT

Hi @ladytrimpot and welcome! If you want to post a question to the forum so you get a variety of answers, go into the section you think will fit the question best. In this case, probably Glaze Chemistry. Next, click on “start new topic,” and fill out the form that appears. Be sure to give your topic a title that will give some info about what you’re asking, such as “how to rescue a frozen glaze”. You’ll get loads of suggestions in no time. I can do it for you if you need assistance, but if you post it yourself you’ll get notifications when people post answers.

Hi All y’All…Just wanted to let you know that I’m going in for hand surgery in a couple of hours to fix a trigger finger and maybe another potential problem call Dupuytrens Contracture…I’m expecting all to go well, but may not be at the keyboard for a couple of days and the clay for about a month...we’ll see…

It's a bit chilly here this week and my wheel is in a shed that is outdoors with a gas heater. -27C so maybe I should think of something else to do.

1000 Miles Apart Ceramics Conference in Calgary this weekend. I haven't spent this much time watching demos in a looong time!
-
Oldlady, I'll try! Roberta, we had demos from Carole Epp from the Musing About Mud Blog, Jeni Hansen-Gard talked about her socially engaged clay practice, and Peter Barbour demoed his fibre clay sculpting process. Ciro DiRucoco came to town and stayed with me, and he's the guy who's been curating the Plainsman Clay Instagram feed for the last while. We had a cup auction for a fellowship fund they're starting for ACAD students to attend the Medalta residency program and clay olympics on the last day. And I can finally say this somewhere: Ciro and I put the finishing touches on our picks for a show that we have helped curate that will be part of the official NCECA events in Minneapolis next March! I'm going to my first NCECA!!!

How is everyone? It has been a while. Just wanted to check in and say I love and miss you all! Fired my kiln today. First time in 8 months I have even touched a pot. Made me realize how much I miss this community. Hope everyone's pots are great and their glazes are perfection!
