After two hours of practice throwing this morning: I need to post in the "Help, I cannot center," and the "Help, I cannot pull walls, and the " Why in the he** did I buy a wheel anyway" threads.

Oh, Bill said, "if you are going to throw a lot, use soft clay". That was my primer. Now I'm loving it. Best wishes.

Yeah, I've been doing this for fifteen years, and I still run into issues. And many times, it isn't me, but the clay. I use a clay that is far too stiff. You'd think I'd learn, but yet...
Best of luck in your endeavor. You'll ge there.

After owning my first wheel for two weeks: I have gone through nearly 100lbs of clay centering and pulling simple forms. I actually pulled a ten pound cylinder today: my first attempt with that much clay. I have also been using my own custom porcleain and stoneware bodies: which I like alot better. (bias intended)

Yes, you will get there! Gotta start somewhere. With me it was very small cylinders that I started with, I didn't make decent bowls till about six months ago.

Found a small Olympic gas kiln that I can use for crystalline reduction. Now I have something to test stoneware clay bodies in as well; the missing link.
