  3. Hate to say it, but I think I would use this to test a glaze pallet. Dip the upper half in a primary color, and the lower half in a pastel to almost clear. I am not sure which one would make it pop more. Although, too strong of a primary would mask the detailing and overshadow the star of the show---the detailing.
  4. I may have to send it back: almost like heroin to a glaze nerd.

Do all COE issues show themselves only in the glaze? Do all COE issues begin in the glaze?

  7. I assume the lower white is the base line color? If so, the upper right shows a very slight gray hue on my screen. The upper left strikes me as Fe/TiO2 colors I have seen.

  18. Mesmerizing piece you have going on here--bravo!
  19. Finally figured this piece out, been thinking about for days. The replicated ash brings in the primitive look, as does the form itself. However, you are moving up the color spectrum from pastel to bright yellow. This shift in color is purely modern, abstract. By the book, it should not work by mixing period references. But it does, and does very well. The brushwork towards the top reminds me of a Picaso technique: not overly definitive.
  20. Feel free to post this to the thread. Obviously took some time to sort this all out.

Drop red food color on unglazed sample fired to maturity. Allow to soak for 2 minutes: rinse clean with plain water (no soap) while wiping with towel. ( wiping, not scrubbing).

  24. Looks like I have a causalty of war in the studio. Went out early to shut down the two test kilns: one was frozen in "8888" LED status. Lightning came through at 4am/: think it is fried.

The invasion has begun. Better put on the aluminum cones. LOL I hope you were able to get your kiln going again. Story weather is beautiful; if you don';t have to fire. ;)

Can the controller be repaired? If these storms are persistent you may have to install a lightning rod ;-(
