1000 Miles Apart Ceramics Conference in Calgary this weekend. I haven't spent this much time watching demos in a looong time!

Who is demoing what??? This sounds fun!
-
so you have learned a lot and are going to share it all with us, right?
-
Oldlady, I'll try! Roberta, we had demos from Carole Epp from the Musing About Mud Blog, Jeni Hansen-Gard talked about her socially engaged clay practice, and Peter Barbour demoed his fibre clay sculpting process. Ciro DiRucoco came to town and stayed with me, and he's the guy who's been curating the Plainsman Clay Instagram feed for the last while. We had a cup auction for a fellowship fund they're starting for ACAD students to attend the Medalta residency program and clay olympics on the last day. And I can finally say this somewhere: Ciro and I put the finishing touches on our picks for a show that we have helped curate that will be part of the official NCECA events in Minneapolis next March! I'm going to my first NCECA!!!

Thanks everybody! It'll be coming out for National Clay Week in October, I'm told. Not too many details yet, but I'll keep everyone posted.

:) :) *victory dance* Congratulations, Callie!

I swear, I have a half track mind. Saw an ad for a local poetry slam, and read pottery slam. My first thought was "that could be an entertaining fundraiser."

Well Callie: sometimes when I wake up: it takes my brain hours to realize I have.
-
Can we write caffeine off as a necessary business expense?
-
I have a "Pottery Slam" in the back loading dock dumpster outside my school building a couple times a year... All the projects that stay unwanted or unclaimed.
-
Potter's Council Peeps: when are the deadlines to submit photos for the calendars?
-
Okay, some interim shots are up in my gallery. No pottery yet, but soon. Very soon.

Seen the gallery upload. Looks like you had one of those "few times" in life experiences. Glad for you and Terri.
-
Marcia, Terri and I are just here for the weekend. If you can prove a certain amount of technical knowledge, you can rent the soda or the salt kiln and fire it yourself for the weekend. We're here until about lunchtime tomorrow. You're about 5 hours away. Wanna come for lunch? We found a place with amazing carrot cake!
-
Roberta and Tom, it's so amazing here. I haven't talked this much pottery in a long time! I have to do this more!
-
It's getting real, people. I just ordered the gravel base for my concrete kiln pad!

I have made my Christmas production list, and am now terrified...

I like the list too. I now just have to break it into manageable tasks and time blocks. Then it becomes less daunting.
-
I was doing OK until someone mentioned there are only 18 more Fridays until Christmas. Yikes!
-
I've just put in my application for my first ever exhibition - this Christmas (starting Nov 12th) - scary or what? This thread has reminded me that I should definitely make a list, otherwise the coming weeks will just fly by and I'll have v little to show!
-
I just finished a website update today. If anyone has a moment, would you mind giving it a browse for errors, bugs or slow loading photos please? www.dieselclay.com

Excellent! Easy to navigate, very clear writing, and the pots look marvelous too.
-
Looks really good to me. Nice, clean, content focused.
-
Awesome! Thanks guys!

Currently contemplating how many yarn jars I can throw to avoid writing an artist's statement.
- Show previous comments 2 more
-
This may lead to a negative artist outcome!!
Throw you bowls whilst honing your statement, only do this if the throwing is coming easy today!
-
I have never thrown a yarn bowl but have written and told a few yarns
-
Probably three times as many pie plates as I can make to avoid folding laundry.

Did anyone know that Neil plays the banjo? He's got a little video over on his Instagram www.instagram/neilestricgallery

My last show of the season just finished!!! Jammies: check. Slippers: check. Wine: check. And now to Neflix!
-
I am converting to the Dark Side for the summer! The gas kiln I work out of is closed for two months, so I will give some dark midfire stoneware a go. Kinda like an artist residency, but at home.

I just got accepted to the largest show I've ever applied to. I'm freaking out a bití ¼í¾‰í ¼í¾‰

Time to make a whole lotta pots!

Great! Callie! Happy potting!

Having an attack of nerves over applying to the biggest show I've ever applied to....

Only one way to find out what happens. Do it!
-
Thanks guys! Application is in. I did the spring show that the same organizer runs, and I was pleased with the results. The Christmas version has twice the attendance though...hence the nerves.
-
Fingers crossed you get in, their loss if you don't!

Are we all glazing this week? I spent most of yesterday in a respirator while waiting for bisque.
