There's a skip full of IFB for free. Now to work out how many I can fit in my car/garden.
-
Back up your files! Woke up this morning and my whole computer had gone! Luckily I had a backup, not sure why it decided to delete itself. Seemed to be an error in reading the NVMe drive but still got my heart going.

Once a thread is archived can it be undone? I know I should probably just start a new one >.< but I like my old ones.

I agree not that I have anything to post in the bubble thread yet but I have plans to. If it is too complicated I can always link to the archived thread in the new one.
-
Hi Joel, admin thinks it best to link your archived thread to a new one. Saves a few problems. Thanks.

Found a house with space for a studio. Been a long 3-4 years with little to no pottery ;[

So happy for you Joel!

Looking forward to being able to post some stuff here again Few months and I should be set up. Have two weeks off work the end of next month as the factory is shutting down so plan to be moving in by then.
-
Isn't it nice when a factory shut down works to your advantage. The company my husband worked for shut down at Christmas for two weeks every year. Most people used some of their vacation time, one year they shut down for over a month. My husband was promised a job when they reopened so we decided to take a long vacation in New Mexico and Texas. We did a no maps, reservations, computers trip and the areas we were in didn't have cell phone service. We found ourselves at the strangest little towns and tourist attractions. Now that he is retired I hope to do it again. Denice

In Shanghai airport on my way to Australia for Christmas and the only thing that I can seem to access is this forum ;D. Not blocked by their fire wall.

After 1.5~ years working as a receptionist and saving money I have moved to Stoke-on-Trent to find a job in a pottery factory

Found a job as a belt attendant, lots of moving and stacking pots in the decorating department not the most exciting work but better than answering the phone.
-
It's a foot in what may be a very big door for you...GOOD LUCK!
-
YAY! Fanfreakingtastic! Best of luck to you.

Falcon heavy launch, probably the best thing I have seen all year.

Envy. As a kid, I saw a mid-'50's rocket launch from the swamp (with quicksand--I remember my aunt warning me not to go wading) directly across from Cape Canaveral. Have never forgotten the awe and majesty of that. I think about that uplifting (pun intended) experience sometimes when I am feeling really down about the idiocy/greed/hatefulness of the human species.

My husband, son and I were vacationing in Orlando and went to see a Space shuttle launch. They had been having trouble with the shuttle so launches weren't happening very often. We took a chance and got up at 3 in the morning and drove to a look out point. They almost cancel it three times and then decided to launch, the roar of the engine was impressive but the shaking of the ground so far away was amazing. We could have been a launch guest, my husband's second cousin was head of the space shuttle program. We decided to watch from a distance and not bother him even though other family members had. My in-laws were special guest to see the Hubble telescope launched into space. Denice

I am sure it was a long road but I am happy to have shared some of it with you. Thank you for walking along side and showing your path to me.

You back in action?

My test kiln is still waiting on me 'finishing' the software so it works well. Keep getting a few weeks of inspiration then a good few weeks lacking any urge to program. Too cold and dark now to fire the gas kiln.
-
Yea. Well I wish you luck figuring that out! I am sure you will nail it down soon enough.
-
Browsing the job market again. Found a research and development technician role in my home town for a mainly Silicon Nitride ceramics company! Now to fail at getting an interview...

Stay safe over there.

In the last 40 years under 2% of deaths from terrorism have been in western europe. Very safe over here.
-
Yea I know it is, just dont like seeing all the people getting hurt in the news recently. Hate is so awful.
-
Decided to fore the gas kiln today. I hope there's enough gas in my 3 mostly empty tanks...

Not had any time to run any new tests. Just old bisque pots from my studio and same with the glaze. My matte white came out pretty clear which was interesting.
-
Going to have a ponder over your post but I will get back to you. Needs some thinking time, also food is ready xD
-
Back in the pottery biz once more? Glad to see you back to firing.
-
There's a job at Denby for a trainee lab tech developing glazes. Gimme please Also one as a craft potter but not sure I am good enough for that. Might send in a cv anyway.

Anybody ever had their instagram account follow a load of random people? Mine has about 300 new follows that were not me, I don't think I have used anything dubious with instagram, no third party apps.

We are VERY glad you have sashayed into this forum!
-
Joel, I was talking to a friend this morning and she suggested "reporting" the hacking of your account. Apparently IG can "clean up" your account.
-
I don't have an Instagram account but received an email from them last week, so something might be going on here in the uk. Never had anything to do with it before this.

Drop wedged 120-150kg of clay today. Going to be feeling it tomorrow.

Used to say. . .move the clay, don't let it move you!
-
good luck!
-
Thank you Sent off the application today so hopefully they will give me an interview.

Trying to remember how my kiln program works. Ran a little test up to 150c and all seems to be working, just need something to put on my wooden floor now for a proper test.

I actually got the first edition for about $10 second hand.
-
Cool. Looks good. I might get it in the future. I will check my local libraries.
-
Why is it so hard to upload a video to etsy. Tried a bazilllion times...
-
Why does it take so long to post a thread, like I am back in 1997 on dialup xD No wonder people spam the post button staring at the blinky dots.
-
Had to take the decision to move out my studio, a little sad but going to keep working as much as I can from home.

Hang tough Joel: you will make it work. I do understand the experimenting aspect: I have a few Frankenglazes out there.
-
Sucks big time. Best wishes.
-
U can make great work anywhere mate.
-
Finally going to be firing with my power burner tomorrow, had a month with no free time at all let's hope it works.

-
Had it open and I managed to crack about 25% of the pots. It did go from room temp to 400c in 30 min on the lowest setting. I need a smaller burner for the very start I think. All cone 9's and 10's down except right at the flue where cone 10 was starting to go.
-
stinks about the pots cracking but part of testing! how did the ones that didn't crack turn out? Wonderful stuff? You will figure out the firing stuff, look how far you have came!
-
Joel- consider yourself a Trekkie- boldly going where no potter has gone before.
