Moved!
We made it all the way to our new town* ok this last Sunday.
Most all our stuff is in storage whilst we stay with our Son and look for a new house. The movers left my wheel and a box of clay near the front, so I might set up to start making greenware** if I get bored, heh. ...no idea where my ribs, sponges, stick, chamois an' all are. However, this town has what appears to be a fully appointed Ceramic Supply store! !! It's open on Tuesday and Saturday, I want to go to there...
This was a nice space to work in.
That big window supplies a lot of light.
Lots of shelving, just enough counter space.
The next space, I'll need some heating/cooling, for it gets both hotter and colder here than Los Osos...The back yard was coming along.
Just about everything needs a pruning.
I hope the new owners keep it up and, And, keep the bird feeder full...
There are many of the same small/songbirds here in Chico. Interesting that the House Finch here has a slightly different song than those in Los Osos.*Chico, California
Where IMCO is just over a hundred miles away; I'll be able to make a clay run on little more than a whim!**I'd smashed a hundred fifty plus hours of work into buckets for reclaiming later on.

Thank you to all who reached out about how we are doing from the big earthquake. I only lost 5 cereal bowls at my xmas booth and zero breakage at studio. Our home is fine as we are prepared for quakes and have out styff bolted to wall and our water heater and solar tanks are straped to walls. Yes we had stuff fall but it all made it fine. This was my best earthquake as pottery damage was so light. Our house is bolted to foundation as well so its fine to.

aim, could you post your work in the section where questions are asked? you might learn a great deal. try studio operations and making work. i am typing from memory, forgive the errors, if any.
first question, should those figures be solid or hollow? why? ask the group and you will hear a lot of good answers.
i can see promise in your work. he is sorry he said or did something to annoy her. she is stiff with anger but willing to forgive him.

I am interested in learning more about firing tile that are rolled out on a slab roller, with a raised texture applied, and ready to be bisque fired.
What is the best way to fire my greenware tile without warping or cracking? Then what is the best way to glaze fire the tiles. The clay is cone 6 and smooth. Standard #182

linnea, where are you in maryland? there are tile makers in lots of places around DC. one who lives in loudoun county and has been making tiles for years. she has done the libraries in several places in loudoun with storytelling tiles fitted into the walls in the children's areas.
her name is Joan Gardiner, look her up and you will see wonderful work. she is very generous with her advice to potters.

how terrible for you both! it started for me just before the fourth of july, the previous friday. mine was inside my mouth, way up in the soft palate. some blisters formed and when they broke, the pain started. i went to a local urgent care clinic and they diagnosed it. no previous knowledge except that i should have gotten the shot.
i know it was caused by unmitigated stress. having lived a stress filled life until now, i still wonder what was different.
so sorry to hear about your husband's serious problem, i hope it will clear up soon with no aftereffects. i was concerned about my eye since the terrible pain seemed to be like a tooth in need of a root canal way up near my eye. went to winchester hospital emergency room after speaking to a doctor on the phone. was given additional medicine. retreated to recliner and bed, no appetite at all.
started to feel better last friday and am actually doing some housework and starting to clean up the studio. still feel like i am walking in four feet of water trying to cross a swimming pool. let him rest, he needs it.

It's been 7 weeks since my spine surgery and I'm happy to say that the procedure was a total success! I'm back to doing everything that I couldn't do and more. No back or leg pain at all. Looking forward to firing up the wheel again!

Shop is a disaster right now. The ice and snow melt outside found a way into the garage, and has frozen into 3" of mess. Shop has never had water in it before, and containers of bisqueware and bisqueware were setting on the floor and now is frozen in place after the heat being on for two days to try and thaw it. Will be vacuuming up water today. Lucky the GFCI was installed 3 years ago, as it did flip, Extension cord to wheel with circuit box was laying in the ice!

it is still cold here. i have heat inside the trailer but not out here on the porch or in the studio. it has been cold since i arrived except for one weekend when my daughter and friend arrived. i know there are other places that are extremely cold and i realize i sound like i am whining but i really would like to get into the studio to make some work for this season's sales. there is one just a couple of weeks after i get home and i will need to glaze whatever i make here during that time. yes, there are people in terrible need and i should just not make light of cold. sorry.

while you are at Highwater, could you please ask what is wrong in the supply chain preventing them from providing little loafers and other clays to their customers? it has been almost a year since i became aware of the shortage of clay and it has only gotten worse. will you let us know if you get an answer, please? thank you.
