Hello! I’m new to pottery, my question is *how long can I keep greenware before firing to bisque?
* how about underglaze greenware? How long could I keep before firing? I don’t get my kiln until about 5 months from now.
thank you! -
Snowing hard here since yesterday. Looks like about 6" so far. supposed to stop about 5 am!

Hello, I'm looking to create a white / off-white / cream clay body with a super fine black speckle. My aim is to glaze the interior of my wares with a transparent glaze and leave the outside unglazed. I'm told ilmenite or iron spangles might do the trick (?), but have no idea how to add these elements effectively to the clay to create some tests. Any help massively appreciated. Thank you, Richard

One thing that scared my husband was the panels being broken by hail. We have hail about three times a year sometimes more. They had a new panel that came in small blocks at the time and said we could replace the broken blocks easily. The panels were very expensive, I read some where that they have shatter proof panels now. Denice

Going to install a neat mosaic in my brick patio this weekend. Pix to follow...
Here's the installed mosaic...37" diameter.

Gray skies from clouds so much better than from smoke. Happy to have the rain!

Been really heavy smoke in our area-but the tuna fishing offshore has been excellent

My sister who lives in Sacramento was complaining about the smoke and ashes. They just got back a couple of weeks ago from a vacation in Oregon. She told me that the small town they camped near was completely leveled by fire. I think it would be good time to take a RV trip to Kansas, we are having wonderful weather right now. Denice

92 degrees in the studio yesterday evening (no A/C), 112F outside as we battle triple digit heat for the next week in Northern CA. Managed to use a piece of 5" crown molding for an interesting pot profile...

Finally got power back on this morning, after 8-1/2 days without due to the "derecho" that hit last Monday.

Does anyone else not like their handles during the making and attachment process, but then really like how they look once they've set up a bit?

Hi All y’All…Just wanted to let you know that I’m going in for hand surgery in a couple of hours to fix a trigger finger and maybe another potential problem call Dupuytrens Contracture…I’m expecting all to go well, but may not be at the keyboard for a couple of days and the clay for about a month...we’ll see…

I hope you heal fast, I had my flip finger and carpal tunnel fixed two months ago. I went in for a check up to see why I still had red scars, sharp pains and swelling. He said I don't form scar tissues well so it will probably be another three month. I already knew about the scar problem so it didn't surprise me. I can hold on to a cup of coffee now but I still have trouble driving my car it is a manual and it hurts to shift . I am nervously awaiting my first time wedging clay without pain. Denice
