We have been getting soaked up here. Had over a foot of rain past couple days. You are more than welcome to it! Time to break out the gum boots, or start a new fashion trend and wear your wetsuit while firing the kilns. :D

Not yet tired of rain but I get it.

  4. Last Glaze day of the year for me on Monday-sale is going strong now at my pottery booth-I'm closing two days to glaze and fire-also I do not want to go 18 days this year  selling only 15 maximum selling days from now on.

I know you have the count but I was curious: how many plates, cups, spoon rest,  etc. do you make a year?

    2. Mark C.

      Mark C.

I NEVER count  pots-If I did I would have gone crazy years ago. What I can say is I count tons of clay used per year-Its been about 10 the past few years  . This year  its about 7.5 for 2018 . Have not counted exactly  yet but thats my guess.I'm slowing down fast now but that said my guess is a few thousand spoon rests and the same with sponge holders. The rest I do not want to know.

I love your fish!   I wanted to let you know that I am finally becoming one with my wheel.  I felt like my foot pedal wasn't working right,  I told my fix it husband about it.  He said I had never thrown on a electric wheel I just needed to get use to it.  Someone posted a video about adjusting a Brent foot pedal,  it said if your wheel kept running after you took your foot away it needed adjusting.  Mine kept running.  He took it apart and tuned and lube it,  works like a dream now.    Denice

Get a TV in there!   VOD is your friend.  How many days a week do you spend glazing versus making?

    2. Mark C.

      Mark C.

I seem to glaze and load two gas kilns on Monday-at least every other week in my slow time. I did this last Monday as well so thats 5 days making one glazing . I'm doing a 4th of July show and have lots of extra stock-so my plan is take 3 weeks off from glazing-which is an extra week. I need to go fishing .

  9. Another middle 60s day great for drying out pots-This past week has been great weather for pottery drying outside

I didn't read anything in the Feb 2018 issue of Ceramics Monthly about the brutality Mark C has to face shipping out one mug at a time. Nice write up.  I think a while back you mentioned you were contributing to an editorial. Always nice to see and read articles from people I have meet here and in person.
