Love this kind of phone call: "You remember that big mixing bowl you made last year with the texture on it? I want one." *headspin*

And there's no good way of saying "I'm sorry, I don't remember you from Adam."
-
I'll take the "do remember me..." over the "Hey, can I pitch a tent in yore driveway and look over your shoulder for 3 days whiles you makes and fire pottery...you won't even know I'm thar!"
-
I had someone who bought a raku dog figurine call two years after the Saale and ask why I made those (I do have a story and dutifully repeated it.)
-
I'm discovering that airbrushing with underglazes is pretty cool...having the air compressor kick-in at 4am, awakening the wife...not so much

Ooooooo.
-
I am OK...its just a little cold in the dog house
-
Maybe the air compressor can keep you warm. í ½í¸‰

I replaced the filters in my respirator this morning...and the old ones were just nasty, meaing I should have already done this months ago. This is a Potter/Public Service Annnouncement.

Alabama, that's an epic thought. I guess I will order some replacements. Mine have been a while too Paul.
-
Don't make fun of possible health problems boys! Replace those filters and take care. We need you here!
-
Paul... new I was forgetting something. TY
-
That 'other' life, office-world, returns today just in time for potential slippery sidewalks and roads...must be karma.
-
I'm taking a day off. For excitement, I may sit at a window and just watch the rain...(do I know how to have a good time, or what?!)

*great

Its rained two feet in past 6 week here-enjoy your day
-
Just Enjoy that moment!!
-
A fireplace makes a pretty comfortable place to brush underglaze details...particularly when it is chilly in the studio

I thought I was living large by having a coffee pot and mini frig. I have to up my game.
-
I tape, Nexflix, Hulu and HBO Go while I make clay and glaze. I never watched any TV before I got into pottery ....
-
I'm just waiting till I have a laundry sink and electric teapot and then I never have to leave the studio again!
-
Semester classes begin tomorrow...I'm calling myself a student rather than instructor...let's see how that works out
-
It is back-to-the-office day following a couple of long holiday weekends *sigh*...but it is ALL good
-
I'm pretty sure that I am not crazy...but I might be a carrier. Definitely crazy-busy on new ocarina projects and still recovering from the holiday rush.

Mark, I have been making ceramic musical instruments for some time now...these new ones include human/facial features. Think 'face jug' only it plays like a flute
-
Dude, Mark. You GOTTA look up this guy's ocarinas. They are freakin' sweet. Heck, ALL his work is!!
-
Wow, Paul, I just visited your webpage. Really cool. And I love your Biographical Sketch. Your work is excellent. I should have know. Your, Not In Kansas, is an architecture masterpiece. Left a comment.

Glad you had a good time in the Old World, Paul!

Ahh, sooo. Does LAndon = LOndon? Was wondering where you had been.
-
Around here if someone is going to LA it means lower Alabama..
Mobile/Fairhope area. :-)
-
Doing some re-arrangeing in the university studio...adding a mini-gallery for advanced clay students (approx. 4'x5' area).
-
Pretty bummed at the moment. I just found out that Jillian Johnson, one of the casualties in the Louisiannna theater shooting, was a Design Major my first year here at Belmont U.

Thanks, All! Your sentiments are much appreciated.

Love and support to you and her family.

Oh that's so awful... I'm so sorry, Paul. Such an unnecessary tragedy!! :'(
-
Whew! This muggy-sauna weather has slowed me to grinding halt...but I am catching up on all those nagging, non-production, clay-related activities
-
1500 pounds of clay..mixed, pugged, de-aired, and packaged for 'mellowing'. Sing it with me: "You load 16 tons and whadaya get, another day older and deeper in debt..." (yep, I just told my age again).
-
Clay mixing time...every time I do this, I feel a little 'groggy'. 'Sorry, that's the best I can do on one cup of coffee
-
Trying my best to make photography part of a regular routine rather than "that thing you do at the last minute"...#OldDog #NewTrick
-
yea me too.. My winter pictures are really bad due to lighting.. I take alot of outdoor pictures from spring to fall.. they turn out much better.. so ill jump on the photo routine bus as well..
-
Mea has a great description of her photo booth setup on her blog. Very simple and her photos are very effective.

Bailey reached Cone 10 around 8:30 last night...now, the wait. 'Trying NOT to be in "are we there yet?" mode.
-
Distract yourself with fireworks!
-
I know what you mean about waiting. I came in the kiln room at the college to find the cart with the plywood backing all charred. What happened? Uh, I think we opened the kiln too soon. The dept head and assistant were a little eager to see how the new glazes turned out!!!
-
-
Looks like I'll be celebrating the 4th Holiday with the Bailey's red glare, fumes exhausting in air, and proof in the night that my pots are still there...
-
My 'bill paying job' is seriously cutting into my clay-related activity...of all the nerve! *grin*

clay is my bill paying job!
-
Mark, my eyes are turning green.
-
Hello there! Am back at my home in SA after visiting my hubby and son in Slovakia..... Talk about something disrupting your claywork!! Wish we can get a stable home environment now so I can get our lives back on track. So in the meantime I just smile and do what I can when I can.
-
Still glazing...the more I glaze, the larger the kiln seems to get as I load it. Whazupwidat?

It like looking inside an empty canvas tent, when it appears larger inside than the outside.
-
Hmmm ... My kilns are looking smaller as my stream of consciousness project gets wildly bigger and bigger ... Cannot fire as we are currently in a heat wave. And now may have to re load these kilns to fit it all in.
-
I think I saw Bugs Bunny do something like dat. That crazy rabbit.
-
Changed the filter on my respirator and tapped out some of the dust that was captured..'pretty scary that some people just don't "get it".
- Show previous comments 1 more
-
What do you use the respirator for; glaze mixing, clay mixing, cleaning, all the above?
-
Ben, definitely when mixing glazes, clay, or sanding bisque...hadn't considered cleaning since I use a wet/sponge/mop process.
-
I wear my mask when I am cleaning. I usually start with my garage studio with a shopvac with a HEPA filter. I open my garage door all the way, and shop vac all the floor around my wheel and work shelve. Then I go back and wet mop the floor.
-
First time to load one pot that fills my home studio electric kiln...a lot of eggs in one basket, for real
- Show previous comments 4 more
-
Thats good-I threw some pots yesderday and put them in sun trimmed them and then loaded them into a bisque fire (gas kiln)-I'm slowly firing now aftera slow candle overnight.
-
I fired a fountain last Dec. each half of it filled my Skutt 1027. We took the kiln apart and built the kiln around it. Had to do that 4 times. Never again.
-
Does this one pot happen to be a Tornado? Please tell me you appeased the kiln gods before hitting the "start" button.
-
Must. Mix. Glazes. I have failed at training my buckets to do their own mixing.
- Show previous comments 3 more
-
Mark - It is important for the male buckets to learn how to keep their lids down
Giselle - Bucket "tough love"...I'm making a note of that right now! LOL
-
Well, in the Harry Potter movies, there is a pan that scrubs itself. We just have to learn the basics of that, and transfer it to glaze mixing...
-
You know you are on the wheel too early in the morning if you dip your sponge into your coffee rather than the water bucket #JustSayin
- Show previous comments 8 more

I've done that with paintbrushes a few times...
-
Bwaahaahaaaahaaa!! Thank you Paul! You really gave me a good giggle there, cuz, yeah, I've done that too....only it was TEA! LOL!
-
Hilarious Paul! Dip your croissant in the coffee instead of the sponge!
-
I think I dreamed that I figured out a way to do slow-drying, only quickly...'might have something to do with a late night Pizza
