Chilly
Haha, I've never made anything that finished "perfectly" round, so should be OK for this one.
PRankin
This is a good challenge. I'm gonna throw something on my square wheel. Paul
Evelyne Schoenmann
Hmmmm.... "anything but round"..... hmmmmm. All my tripods are round on the top. You think I have to do a triangular tripod ( a so called TriTri ) now? Hmmmmm.... Let's see....
OldUberGoober
Apparently I'm not up the creek without a paddle on this challenge, since I've been beating the round out of pots a lot lately with my trusty paddles; far and away my best home made tools. Thanks to Billy Ray at Eye of the Dog for the inspiration.
LeeU
I rarely do rounds, so the challenge for me will be to do something different with my not-rounds...maybe find or build a path that traverses the terrain between round/not round. oldlady
at the show today, my friend denise had a wonderfully whimsical pink pig bank with long legs. she had a band of various color flowers around her waist (waste on a pig) and was wearing what you would think was a tutu. except she was so fat i told people she was wearing a fourfour. numbers are all relative. just not relatives of mine. it was a s l o w day. fell asleep in the chair. GiselleNo5
Is any technique okay? Because I'm working on making my own slipcasting mold for a special kind of tissue box cover. It will NOT be round!
Mistfit
I am new here but have been lurking for a while. I have just set up my pottery within the last couple of months. I have been playing with doing chopstick boxes. I have been thinking about trying to see if I can do them altered to a square shape. I do not know if it will work but I am going to give it a go to see if I can get the lids to work on non-round shapes. Edit: I think I will do this as a series of three.. One will be square, one triangular shape and one... well I will figure that out later. I went out this morning and threw one that I shaped into a rounded edge square. I have some ideas on how to push the square idea more but that will have to wait til tomorrow when I have more time. Image of my first attempt at the square shape (rounded edge square really but who is counting)

High Bridge Pottery
Yes any technique is fine for this one The challenges are probably going to oscillate between something quite open with little constrains to something much more specific. Always open to more ideas. Loving the idea of the chopstick boxes Misfit. The lid style reminds me a lot of those bamboo steamers.

Joseph Fireborn
I like the idea of a box for this challenge. I was thinking some type of altered vase, but a box sounds like more fun. Maybe even a tall jar, altered with a lid. I am going to try to join in on this challenge. I missed the other two because I was working hard on trying to get ready to sell pots, but I am still a ways from that, so might as well enjoy this challenge. Marko
I'm stumped. Hmmm, stumps aren't really round, right? I think I better put an aluminum hat on. Maybe something will come.
ChenowethArts
I have not been a-round much lately...but I'm certain that is not the intent of this challenge. It 'tis off to the sketchpad for this one...perhaps venturing into the world of wood and clay construction. I've needed an excuse to get beyond the "I'll get around to it" stage...and this squarely fits the bill Maybe @Mark (Marko) Madrazo will pass the hat when he gets his inspiration,-Paul
Mistfit
After a few hit and miss attempts I landed on a three sided shape for my box. I am still not 100% happy with it but it is getting closer. If I really wanted to make a bunch of these it would take more practice. Currently I need more practice on the easier thing, but this has been a fun diversion.
BeckyH
While they may rhyme, pound cakes are not (usually) round! Once again, the motivator is available.
