  1. Looooove this. If you're having trouble getting the carving to show up properly, try a little more contrast in your light. You want all that texture to show up. I'd love to see that other side.
  2. One of my favorite things so far.
  3. It's done! I posted it here: http://community.ceramicartsdaily.org/gallery/image/5888-cobalt-ripple-vase-finished/
  4. From the album: Work in Progress

This one, I thought I'd try making a toothbrush holder but only got about halfway as high as I wanted, so I decided to do a weird sort of avant garde sponge holder. It looks weird but it will work. My sister is probably going to steal this one, she's been hinting.

I'm trying out quite a few new designs for sponge holders, I'm curious what proves to sell. Despite what they look like I spend very little time decorating them because I know they won't sell for much ... I'm just experimenting right now and also using this as a canvas for trying out some new ideas; I'll be able to see how they turn out with glaze and everything but not as much investment as a larger piece. From left to right: poppies, plain (oh the agony of leaving something plain ... I can't handle it ...), and white leaves on red clay.

  7. Thanks, Judith! Cone 5 Laguna glazes. Peach Blush and Spring Green. In case you decide to try them out, two tips: the green tends to be streaky when brushed and the peach doesn't complete at the top of the kiln (unless the result you WANT is satin) so I make sure to put it in the bottom half.
  8. @Marko: check this out The little jar above is my first and only attempt at one and it was back in March ... I want to try again because I'm 100% sure I can do better! LOL Among other things this little jar is so bottom heavy it's ridiculous. I thought maybe it would be a cute salt keeper for somebody's table because it's way too small to be a sugar bowl.

The weather is one of the best things about living on the coast of California. The drought however is one of the worst things ... :(

  16. The bride commented in her review that the leaves were part of the slip mold. But I worked so hard on them! LOL
