Cutout spoon rests in aqua, cherry, and white

Wheel thrown, trimmed with a shallow foot, cutout for spoon handle. I like making this shape for spoon rest because it will hold even deeper ladles without letting them roll off like plain flat spoon rests do.© Copyright 2015 Giselle Massey, all rights reserved

This is very wonderful texture. Love it. Intriguing and reminds me of barnacles or something under the sea. Wish I could pick it up. -

This one has the addition of iron oxide on just the flowers, stems and leaves, but I felt like it added very little so I won't bother next time. The glaze on its' own has a lovely break and brings out the design beautifully.© Copyright 2015 Giselle Massey, all rights reserved

This is my carved poppy design with Stoned Denim by Spectrum instead of bringing out the poppies in a variety of bright underglazes and covering them with clear. A friend requested a mug in this color so I wanted to try it out on the little tumbler first to make sure the design showed up. It's a lot more subtle than the bright colors against cream but I really like it anyway. This is just plain carved and glazed straight; the other one has iron oxide on the flowers, but it really doesn't make a noticeable difference (I wouldn't have seen it unless I already knew) so I'm going to skip the extra step next time.© Copyright 2015 Giselle Massey, all rights reserved

Cream Pitchers, Side By Side Comparison, Six Months' Progress

On the left is perhaps the seventh or eighth wheel thrown piece I completed. It's a cream pitcher because I knocked against it and bent the lip. On the right is a cream pitcher, deliberately made six months later. I made it in a very similar design with the same color combo because I wanted this side-by-side comparison.
