  1. From the album: Slip Cast Dinner and Bakeware

The outside of the pie plate I decorated with a pattern of leaves in white slip. The bottom I glazed clear to show the contrast between the white slip and the Moroccan Sand underneath; the outside of the pie plate I glazed in Deep Sienna Speckle, which reminds me of pumpkin pie.

  2. From the album: Slip Cast Dinner and Bakeware

Pie plate slip cast in white stoneware from Laguna. I painted three coats of Moroccan Sand slip on the inside and bottom of the plate. I carved an intricate design of leaves and vines around the bride and groom's initials and wedding date to show the white clay underneath the taupe clay. This was glazed in clear.

  3. Back from a trip with my family. I'm staring at a huge pile of suitcases and my hands are literally aching to throw because I had a million amazing ideas while I was away!

Oh no, Grype, I went to reply and accidentally deleted your comment! I wasn't offended by it. I was going to say, I sell them as fast as I can make them but I've only made nine in the past year. I'm not against raising the price.

Hah. No worries. I have done the same thing as well.

  4. Thank you! I love the shape, I want to see if I can reproduce it. We'll see!
  5. This forum is awesome. I get a bit isolated so it's wonderful to connect with other potters.
  6. Thank you very much! This set is my current favorite and my first successful attempt at a separately thrown fitted lid. I had actually put a regular knob on and suddenly in a flash I knew I should do a mushroom so I redid the knob. So happy with this set.
  7. Thank you! I spent so long on this one that I pretty much didn't sleep the night of the glaze fire. When you see the inside you'll understand.
  8. I thought both challenges left lots of room for creativity while still sticking to a theme. For example, a flowerpot inspired by spring was pretty specific and yet everyone's was vastly different! I think setting two guidelines gives a nice limit of range to the competition. Lots of the ideas I would have said have already been shared here but I think these are different: 1. Emotion: Happy, sad. Hungry. Home. Love. 2. Shape. (Oldlady's comment inspired this idea) You could say something like "a triangular functional pot". No other rules. It could be wheel thrown and altered, slab built, pinched. does this make sense? It could be shallow and plate like or a closed 4-D pyramid. Lots of wiggle room. 3. It could also be a specific process, like a slab built plate or platter. Or a wheel thrown item with sgraffito decoration of some kind. Would that deter people, if they don't like that process? For me, a flower pot is not in my comfort zone so throwing one with an attached saucer was a good stretch of my ability.

I really like your houses! I want to try making some cottage boxes with lift-off roofs.
