Invited to do a pop-up show at 'last minute'...said, "OK" because it is less than a mile from home and will last only 3 hrs. I can do this

Outdoor shows take a certain amount of courage.
-
Lol Ohhhh no!
-
Probably a little late, but heck, congratulations. You can did it?
-
This semester I'm starting the transition from Cone 10 reduction to Cone 6...is that like moving to "the dark side"?

I think glazes for 0xidation cost more than reduction because you use a higher percentage of metallic oxides for the colorants. It isn't a matter of temperature.
-
and you don't need frits. You use more fluxes like Neph Syn. Spars,
-
Thats it!! According to the Equal Oxidation Act of 1964, kiln environments must not show bias towards reduction. I will be filing a complaint with the National Frit Review. Board.
-
It is glaze firing day...I seem to forget just how hot it can get in the kiln room when the outside/combustion air is coming in at 95F+. The pots are reducing and apparently so am I

<-- Doesn't flash. Rarely runs. Cracks up occasionally. Bottom is too thick.
-
"cracking" up over here!
-
Sauna and a show!! -whistles!-

I spent the morning spraying underglaze outside (and wearing a respirator)...just so you know, attempting to 'blow away' a bug that lands on your arm doesnt work well through a mask...trust me on this

Next time, give em a coat of under glaze.
-
LOL I have a magnifier with a lamp for making stamps and I'll try to blow little bits of clay away and end up steaming up the magnifier instead. Every. Single. Time.
-
Check the member gallery. Got one headed for red in oxidation. Few hundred more attempts perhaps.
-
No one wants to buy a lottery ticket to have the privilege of cleaning out the cly trap in my studio sink...people just don't understand how much fun that is (spoken in my best Tom Sawyer voice) *snicker*

Oooooh no. I used to clean the floor drains at the restaurant where I worked but I still think clay stank can be worse. I'll definitely take studio cleaning any day.
-
I did not now anyone who knew Tom Sawyers voice-did't he die long ago??Maybe thats why the trap stinks
-
I'll be there as soon as I can remember where I parked my flying carpet.
-
I must get better/faster at submitting applications for shows...I seem to spend way too much time agonizing over copy edits and photography.

LOL @GiselleNo5 !
@alabama you gotta do what works for you!
@Diesel Clay...that's a deadline i will miss, dagnabit!
-
At least you don't talk yourself out of applying altogether like I do.
-
@firenflux Oh, no!!
-
Just acquired just under a ton of semi-dry Coleman porcelain clay...re-constituting this mess may take a while.

Medium size peter pugger would take about 2 hours
-
...munch munch munch, spit. And repeat.
-
first try the dropping on all sides. If it doesn't soften it up, then do the water in a bag. Coleman is very thixotropic and hardens on the outside. Mine softens when I drop it...twice on each side. Worth a shot.
You said it was borderline hard. That's what mine feels like before I drop it. Otherwise I could never wedge it.
-
Day 3 of playhouse construction for the grand-kiddos...I'm thinking it needs a gargoyle just to get me back into the studio
-
I just finished packing ONE large bowl for shipping...I think my first sofa came in a smaller box *grin*
-
It is glaze firing day...I suppose that makes tomorrow bisque 'hiring' day. 'Better run for now...things are getiing hot in the HR (Heavy Reduction) department.
-
Back in the dark ages when I first started using clay, I don't recall anyone telling me to be sure to photograph finished work...see, it is ALL their fault

COOL- brontoburgers!
-
Good thing you didn't waste your time ... I have hundreds of slides ... even I don't want to sort them!
-
Oh yeah ... And images on floppy discs. Really useful.
Throw money at someone to convert them all.
-
After a month of conquering 4qt bowls, I'm finding myself much happier with 8 pounds of clay and just a 3qt bowl. Yes. That makes be about a 'quart low'...but we've known that for a while, right?

-
I would die if I tried making that!!
-
Ha! "Only" 8 lbs.? í ½í¸‰ My current limit is 5 lbs.
-
Cavy, I would get a hernia.
-
My wedding ring survived a batch of stoneware in the Peter Pugger...I always knew of my attraction to clay, but this takes it too far, methinks

You people are nutz!...and I love it!!
-
I am just an almond with joy.
-
Oops! I lost mine years ago after taking it off for pottery. Not sure if my wife has ENTIRELY forgiven me though we're still together 20 years on ;-). In fact it was her idea for me to get back into clay - I'm beginning to wonder why.
-
If te results of my last two glaze firing is any indication, I may be close to pefecting my 'un-even firing' technique...if only that were actually useful
-
You know its all about that glaze, 'bout that glaze...no bubbles (earwig for today, with apologies to Meghan Trainor)

Hairspray!
-
Hehehe
-
Blub, blub, blub.
-
Looking at a licensing agreement for logo use that will mean a busy summer of handbuilding...crunching numbers & schedule carefully.
-
New pieces do not photograph themselves *sigh*. I'll get right on that...perhaps tomorrow
-
Ah, finally. A stay-cation so I can work in the studio...I hope to see the floor again after 3 days of de-crapinating the space

It's always faster to clean that I think it will be. Then you'll have a wonderful place to work!
-
Decrapinator? Did the Arnold star in that?
-
glazenerd... yes, I believe Arnold came "bah-ck" for that
-
Really dodged a bullet on this latest glaze firing...whatever low fire glaze that was accidentally included was on the interior/rim of a bowl and did little harm (except for a few not-so-interesting drips). Whew!!
-
That moment when the cone 10 glaze firing is well underway, you are cleaning up the glazing table, and suddenly there is an out-of-place container of low-fire glaze sitting in front of you...

-
how did it turn out? we are all holding our breath
-
It should never be allowed in same building -Its a hard lesson but a true one
-
Mark the low fire with fluorescent paint or something! Mine are on a different shelf, I have to actively go after them.
-
I like the idea of pulling fresh air into the studio, especially when venting a bisque firing...but let's not confuse 'fresh' with 'artic'. #Brrrr
-
Some half-crazed, clay-slinging, glaze spraying, slab-building, old-dude maniac has made a mess in the studio...oh wait.
-
Glazing. Its what happens to people who enjoy making things but then can't always decide what those things should look like once fired

I know how I'm going to glaze something as soon as I texture it, but I still put off glazing till I absolutely have to. I'm definitely a mud potter.
-
I have a stack of bisque in the shop, awaiting glaze. I am having an indecisive moment. or two!
-
I have the same thing going as Roberta12.
