  1. love the shape and handle. color is great. good going!
  2. entire box on top with squares in it sold. butter dishes mostly gone. still have some of the longer cracker trays. (sigh of relief!)
  3. cone 6 glazed greenware color is copper carbonate. it gives a very deep underwater look and i love it. the blue cat is the same base glaze over the original turquoise which i did not like. little loafers cone 6 white stoneware. sold by highwater clay in asheville, NC, sorry.
  4. i spray greenware and fire it to cone 6. i can share the recipe if you like. it has barium carb in it and some people are frightened of using it. check the facts.
  5. made me laugh also, the OCD folks came through and this morning i found all the birds piled up neatly by color, the hearts, circles, squares and others piled neatly by color in stacks of 6 or 7 each. every potter with baskets had the same experience. packed up only half of the $7 basket. the $9 basket was hidden in the dark so not as empty. no idea yet on total sales. today seemed slow. it was a sunday in the bible belt so no real traffic until after 12. one of the first sold was the sparkly eyed cat. and the green is a big hit.

    2016 holiday sale

some pots i really like for the holiday sale and packing them up for transport.

overview after the last person setting up has left. tomorrow it will be filled with buyers.
  8. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

there are lots of potters and we are assigned table space by drawing names. some locations have poor lighting, this year i got one of the less desirable spots. the worst is up against the sunny windows. you need sunglasses to see anything. three tables can hold a lot of pots. the green tablecloths are provided by the guild and make a cohesive look to the whole room but each potter does whatever he/she wants above the green.

hope most of this is gone by sunday when i work the sale. there are about 15 potters in this show and we have various jobs. i will be a wrapper and talker. i talk a lot during the sale, showing people where to find a particular potter or a specific type of work. filling in empty spots in anyone's display and explaining how something can be used if they cannot figure it out themselves. there are 3-4 cashiers on saturday morning and wrappers next to each cashier so the lines move well. i like working sunday so i only have to make the drive on friday to set up and on sunday to wrap and wander and take home the leftovers.

awkward area between sections but it still holds a lot of pots in racks. the hanging pocket is for dried flowers only, it will not hold water and is labelled as such.
  11. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

messed up. my center section is a quick substitute for a display unit that i left at a store. will pick that unit up tomorrow. it is much better than this white triangle with one shelf.
  12. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

setup at the sale venue. it is in a public park and the building houses a swimming pool and several rooms for activities of different types. this is a nice, quiet part of the building and the parking lot is spacious. this is our 20th holiday sale.
  13. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

baskets of smaller items, one labeled "little treasures $9" and the other "tiny treasures $7". these sell well with people picking up several at a time. they fill the corners of the kiln normally but i made a bunch and fired a total of 96 pieces on monday. i am ready.
  14. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

boxed up and ready, about a third of what i will be taking to the show.
  15. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

group of bowls of different sizes. have not sold bowls at the holiday sale for years, lots of other potters make bowls. and beautiful mugs so i do not do them either. i think i have a niche but i noticed that this year there are other folks doing similar sized flats.
  16. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

this was originally glazed with turquoise but it wasn't right so i covered it with the same base glaze as the green piece but with cobalt carb as the colorant. his eyes sparkle!
  17. From the album: 2016 holiday sale

the new green glaze has depth, i love it.
  18. what happened to the one with the halo that all of us loved?

    Rustic Scene

very nice! looks like something that dropped from a tree.
  20. if you thumbtack a piece of white cotton to the back of the stepped display unit it will remove the distractions of the huge room full of people and let buyers see your pots.
  21. does the silky matte have zinc in it? if not, i would like the recipe, please.
