Silly or stupid-its a toss up
lets see back in art school early 70s -well lets call him Ed (to protect the stupid) stacked the 36 cubic Alpine with bisque ware one late afternoon and started a candle falme on kiln and left-I was throwing late after after a few hours we all heard a huge Kabam sound and dust shot out of kiln room in huge clouds. What the heck we all slowly went it to see what that cpould have been???
Seems Ed did not know about lining up all the posts on top of each other on shelves-he just put them where he felt like and the whole load collapsed to the floor taking out all the greenware-all 26 cubic feet of it.Many people where not happy with Ed after that.
Lets move forward about 5 years and Ed was firing his 1st homemade catanary  arch kiln-it was propane-he had trouble lighting it-has the gas on and then turned it off and went for more matches-started the burners again and Kabam as the kiln had lots of heavy propane still trapped in foor area it went off like a bomb. The arch went up -he was crouched to the side  and was knocked away of front wall as both front and rear walls blew out and arch came down in pieces-a complete loss of wares and kiln. He was ok but shaken.I was about 25 feet away at the time.
Fast forward about two more years
Ed called me to see if I was interested in buying all his stuff which I did at that time.I figure I saved many many  a pots from destruction getting Ed out of clay .
Never heard from Ed again but if you hear a huge Kabam sound he may  around still.

Liam I tried to get them to order a test kiln for me one time but the owner wasn't interested in ordering a brand he didn't handle.   It was a AIM test kiln that was highly recommended,  this was 20 years ago,  the store owner wanted to sell me a Paragon test kiln that looked like a enamel kiln.   I called AIM kilns and had them ship me one,  when I needed a new element I had to find it on-line.   He wouldn't help me with it,  he has always been a grouchy guy but the people that work for him are great.  He is the owner that just recently retired,  his son is just like him but his daughter is nice and friendly.   Last year I needed some more Flint Hill Buff Clay that I bought from them,  they didn't carry it anymore.   They told me who still sold the clay  and that I should call and order it from them.    Denice

Wow that's interesting!  I've never paid a fee to enter a show, we have a few big ones that charge an entrance fee, and those booths are multiple thousands per weekend, I've never even pondered applying to one.  I had a neighbor who did woodworking and iron, and he did two years of a big one (home and garden show here in Seattle) and he said never again.
I don't mind paying a jury fee, yeah it's kind of a cheap shot to artists, but I understand someone has to sift through all of it.
Just silly that they juried you in this year, so obviously you made the cut in some way, why not shoe you in for next year??  Since I have to apply for next year's show again, I'll be out basically 150 dollars between application and jury fees.

Thats not a fair proposal -they are forcing you into something you never signed up for.Its pure greed as far as I am concerned-you signed up for the show -if it canceled you get the money back-if you want to participate in plan B (online market where they get a cut) thats anew deal not part of original contract. Its just like the description of that Montana show I referanced.

I finally was able to request a refund on my tulip festival booth fee.  They offered a spot on their "virtual market" without any description of what that would be, and if you refused to spend your money on that, you don't qualify for next year's show.  So whatever, money in the pocket now is worth much more than possible sales at next year's tulip festival.

Here might be a place to start.  Magnesium mattes with some calcium and cobalt can go pretty vivid indigo without having to get toxic.

Same.  I've been laid off since March 20th and have been in lockdown since the week before that.  I am an essential worker by law, but apparently not essential enough to actually have work to do.
Been a lot of fun here in the land of schooling two kids for 7 hours a day.  Pretty sure i could never cut it as a teacher now, drives me totally nuts.  On top of that my wife thinks this is a great time to remodel everything in the house, and fishing and camping are CLOSED.  Sooooooo, it's a lot like hell here in Seattle

Used to live in Tacoma years ago, one of my favorite places. However, after visiting the area in the last few years after retirement, the lack of sun, gets to me. Still love the country, and the cities. Hate the traffic! As far as teaching, it really does take a special breed, patience, dedication, long hours and short lunches. In the long run I loved it, and never believed I would end up as lucky as I did.

Lineman’s pliers! Piece of cake. All of Mine are 40 years old and I still cut 1/4” bolts with them in a pinch. Probably have four pair laying around after all these years.

I bend wires for work, albeit much different wire for much different purpose.
I recorded a video of me doing it on another jug, should be able to edit it in the next few days and get it up.

Ok, here's my custom swingtop lid on the growler.  Wasn't too bad!  I'm using a silicone gasket, it's a little stiff, but it holds water, is very nice and tight with a good solid click when its locked.  Basically a miniature jam jar setup.
I didn't want the typical grolsch style cap, it comes with too many design restrictions.  So I'm glad this came out well.

We’ve also been stuck at home for two months except for essential services for 7 weeks, and starting the reopening may be premature. Cases are going down, but there have been large outbreaks at a few critical meat packing plants and at the Amazon warehouse. So ...it depends.
They're making plans, but they’re also saying if the numbers start going up again, back home we go.
