OMG well maybe set the foot pedal and extension thingy up on the wheel when not in use?  Of course I'm an abnormally clean potter and I always leave my station shiny.  Wouldn't work for someone who cleans Simon Leach style.  I mean I love the guy but his work space makes me shudder ...

We hit  8 below last week, got about 10" of snow cover. If you don't love it, you're in the wrong place! I love it.

Last of heavy meds only at night now. Nothing during the day. She is doing pretty well.

As my thinking follows never assume, I went to mayor's office on Wednesday, asking about firing the kiln. Mayor told me to go down to the guys working on the street from the gas company, and ask. Top guy there told me that there was no problem with the gas now at my side of the block evidenced by the road being opened and that their testing showed that the soil was no longer saturated. I explained that I was in a garage in back of the house with the firing and the garage was over the river tunnel. He said all of that had been cleared. Fired the kiln that day. The cone adjustment of -35 is not quite right. Next firing will be with cone adjustment of -30. Getting there.

As others have suggested, definitely make sure your clay is indeed Cone *6* not *06*.
It would be odd to have a mid fire Cone 6 clay body and then low fire glazes.
If those low fire glazes are fired up to Cone 6 they are going to run everywhere.
If the clay is indeed Cone 6, then perhaps the previous teacher  purposely underfired it, and used the low fire glazes.  I would almost guarantee this was the case based on the low fire glazes.
 
What kind of kiln controller do you have?  Is it a digital controller or a kiln sitter?  I ask, because if it is a kiln sitter you'd likely be able to see what cones the previous teacher was firing to.

Something seems wrong here, in the US earthenware is under around cone 1 or 2 at the most. Is the clay labelled? Any chance it’s cone 06? Doesn’t really make sense that there would be low fire glazes and midfire clay left by the former teacher.

I think it would help to determine what you have in clay and glazes, and in enrollment. You may be able to adjust your glazes or fire to ^6 slow bisque. Let us know inventory.

Received a call today from shipper.  Kiln will be delivered tomorrow morning. Asked for it early as I have appointments (bowling) in the afternoon.
Have to have it dropped at the driveway. Luckily tomorrow is a no rain day.

Congrats-I still am in the Stone Age with a Manuel kiln. Enjoy all the time off after the learning curve.

I guess the bright side is it's summer and you didn't have to deal with freezing temperatures plus a power outage plus a pandemic.

Little to no damage to our home or garage to speak of.  We lost half of our front tree, which is our only tree, and it kind of fell on our front porch.  However, it just managed to dent part of the gutter. 
We also lost a single shingle.
This definitely gave us confidence in the strength and durability of our Century old home!

Hi Michael, I sent you a PM with the information.

I understand that, have been considering a new kiln, but the old on is 30 and doing well. I keep replacing whatever needs replacing.
 

One will be in Spanish in Revista Ceramica Internacional!
The  other will be in PMI and is due Nov 1.
