For à thriller you'd like Shadow of a Doubt (Alfred Hitchcock). And Dial M for Murder. For comedy, The Lady Killers w/Peter Sellers.

  3. I am converting to the Dark Side for the summer! The gas kiln I work out of is closed for two months, so I will give some dark midfire stoneware a go. Kinda like an artist residency, but at home.

  4. I just got accepted to the largest show I've ever applied to. I'm freaking out a bití ¼í¾‰í ¼í¾‰

Thanks guys! Application is in. I did the spring show that the same organizer runs, and I was pleased with the results. The Christmas version has twice the attendance though...hence the nerves.

  6. Are we all glazing this week? I spent most of yesterday in a respirator while waiting for bisque.

My boyfriend and I had this game we started playing when we got together--we'd go to thrift stores and walk to the section with dishes. He'd point to something and say, "What's that?!" And without skipping a beat, I'd be all like, "Reduction-fired buff stoneware," or "Slip-cast porcelain." He'd laugh so hard and wonder how the heck I could just spit the answers out like that. :D

  11. I'm trying to find a relatively recent thread where people were talking about adding things to glaze to make it brushable, and things like acrylic medium, glycerine and floetrol were mentioned. Anyone remember which one it

  12. I should know better than to do shows Ina church, no matter how nice the neighbourhood. Sold 3 whole pieces today.

This is one thing, yes :). All my friends and neighbours are wanting to see the new stuff, so I may just have an impromptu open house, and post a few items on etsy. I have a bigger sale Dec 12-14, and I have better hopes for that one.

  13. Just got my kiln load back!! 30 cubic ft of work, and no major errors! Pics to come.

  14. That's just a rolled bottom with my thumb print 4 times. But it's kinda fun and funky!
  15. These are lettered because they're a shot I made of rough sketches for a client. I posted them here because someone was curious. But thank you for the offer, Phil. And I am having fun Babs:)
  16. It's from a stencil that I push slip through. No screen to speak of, but I pull the slip over the stencil the same way you'd pull ink over an actual silk screen on to a piece of paper. Then the paper gets applied to a soft pot, because the stencil itself isn't flexible enough.
  17. Just spent the day spiffing up the website. I'd appreciate any pm's with suggestions or comments. (I know the Facebook link is funky, but it's bedtime)

Nice clean site with lovely images. I would move the Gallery link forward and the contact to the end, but that is personal choice.

  18. From the album: Recent stuff

These are part of a commission for Distress Centre Calgary. They are given as corporate gifts, and read "Everyone is heard". I use a low tech silk screen (a plotter-cut Mylar sheet) to print the lettering onto a piece of newsprint, and gently apply this to the side of the mug. Once the slip is set up, I gently peel the newsprint off and apply the handles.
