Post the results. I love looking at your work!

I am going to experiment with the last few pots by adding a colorant but I want to see if it will kill the yeast first.

jrgpots: that's interesting! Thank you for the tip. Marci, are you going to try this??

even with the air conditioner on in my studio, the sweat was running into my eyes. Finished trimming and went into the house.

Marcia and Mark are in Texas, which is literally the frying pan of the USA. I would pretty much die if I lived there, haha! Their summers are routinely 40-45c every year. It's sadly getting that way here in eastern Washington state, too... blech!

we had a frost once for 4 hours in the ten years we've been here.
-
We have an excessive heat warning here for the next 2 days. Fortunately my place stays cool. Have you considered adding a swamp cooler? My family uses those in airplane hangers and they work great.

I'll be filling in for Evelyne for QOTW while she is at a workshop in Germany with no internet.

fast trip to San Antonio to get clay and pick up pieces from a show. Hope is can be a one day trip.

ired my raku finally but one of the glaze not acting right. Wonder if too much humidity could be the reason faulty pyrometer or a mistake in mixing? My pyrometers went crazy last time i was firing.
-
I use commercial raku glazes. The copper glaze gives me the greatest variation in color; from iridescent green to all copper to
some copper with iridescent other colors which vary according to
way the light strikes my slab pieces when hung on the wall. I'm not sure why there's such variation.
-
I like my mixed glazes as well but something went wrong. Last time it was this humid and hot, my pyrometers looked like geiger counters jumping around. I have been mixing my own raku glazes for decades.

Must put off raku firing until the weather cools down a little.

I've never fired in that cold, nor do I want to. I'd go with too hot though. You don't have to dress in layers.

20 below. woo wee that's cold.

not in front of the kiln!
Great colors though.

I plan to be there. I've been looking for a hands-on workshop similar to this that's within reasonable driving distance from my home.
-
I've signed up for the workshop at Brackers - really looking forward to it!
