Well, it's got nuthin to do with ceramics, but a big black bear just helped himself to the suet cakes hanging from my car port roof. He made a crushed wire mess of my pricey squirrel proof double cake suet hanger. I've been hanging suet for 8 years w/o being visited by a big fuzzy thief. Guess I won't be putting that out anymore. Did I mention he was big? (And beautiful-a treat to see, truth be told).

How is everyone? It has been a while. Just wanted to check in and say I love and miss you all! Fired my kiln today. First time in 8 months I have even touched a pot. Made me realize how much I miss this community. Hope everyone's pots are great and their glazes are perfection!

May 1st is the "soft" launch of my online shop at Lee U Ceramics website. My store collections have enough items to "go live". More to come, of course!

Just sent out my first "web site is live" notice. Maybe should not have, since the store is not active yet, but everything else is done and I figured I best begin to get it "out there". Feels good! Lot of work, but i did it all myself.

the geese are headed north in huge flocks but we still have a ton of snow and its -16 right now????

The aggravating week continues. Now fedex has lost my shipment of custom-printed shopping bags. If they can’t find it, I won’t have time to get them reprinted before my next show.

That really stinks! I am sitting here wondering what recourse you actually have? I hadn't thought about being in that position. I have had to deal with the manufacturer/vendor not getting things right, late shipments, damaged shipments, but not lost. That really stinks! Thankfully you have enough blank bags for the next show, but that doesn't help you recoup what you have already spent.........geez, I am going to be reading the fine print just a bit more closely!

I am thrilled to be turning down my first commission request! I am not going to do orders to specifications, but I will accommodate the person by offering a few "close to/very similar" objects based on the desired attributes.

Lee, can you tell me how you turned down the commission work? For instance, what words did you say? I just got a request from a customer today saying that she wants 3 more mugs like the one she bought from me in December only she wants red hearts and she wants things written on them and ...... I have to be able to nicely turn down some custom work.......

Home alone again. Husband returned to Va. to work. He was telecommuting for 2 of the three weeks he was here. He did manage to do some jam sessions at the Snowcreek saloon. Mother-in-law spent a week over Christmas with us. I am now back to the studio. I did some reorganizing of layout to improve heat flow. its nice in there when the temperature i up to high 30s. Around -10 the studio temperature went down to 55. I have a kerosene backup if I need it.
Happy to be in the studio again.

My studio in the basement is unheated. I use a small room heater when the temp drops, but I don't like the fan blowing. So I was thinking of getting one of the radiant wall heaters....But my space is very small....10x11. In the shop where I glaze/spray booth/kiln is unheated and very well insulated. So a small space heater will take the chill off quickly. I found those radiant wall heaters on Amazon. Very reasonable.

Happy New Year! I'm thrilled to now have someone to help with some of the non-clay tasks needed to set up an online store, which means I can focus more time/energy on making the pieces I need to make.

Disappointed (with emphasis). When you open the kiln excited to see vibrant colours on decals (12 pieces) and what you actually get is grey on white.
