I thought about all of you fine people today so I figured I would come say hello and that I love you all!

I am building up a new body of work, in the experimental stages!  I have been lurking here for many years, but only just set up a profile. Thank you all for the amazing content and hope to contribute more in the future. 

Kiln wiring is in, will set up wifi, and update software and then run an empty test firing.

Kiln arrived yesterday, and is now in the shop. I am in the process of reassembling, and have an electrician coming to do whatever needs done with the wiring into service. I am also getting ready to set the vent into the chimney at back corner.

New kiln was shipped today.

Wow!!! Just over 1" of rain in the last 18 hours. The first rain we've gotten since the middle of April...a truly welcome sight...and the snow in the high Sierra measured in feet! It's a start!

actually fired a load of work i made months ago and last week.  they came out fine.  first firing all year.

9,600 watt solar system is up and running after 5 months of on and off agin work on it.If the suns out we are gettting prepaid power.24 400 watt panels

Now it's cool enough to work in the studio (greenhouse).  I can't get to the clay as it's hiding behind garden trellis/obelisks/mini greenhouse that is drying out, waiting for painting/water repellent stuff.  I'll be back soon clay, promise.

Been really heavy smoke in our area-but the tuna fishing offshore has been excellent

Great news today...my submission of the Three's A Charm horsehair Raku was chosen for a Juror's Award in "Sculpture" at the KVIE  PBS Art  Auction!

Glaze firing 5 pots. First time in months.

Finally graduated up to being able to throw 5 lbs with ease! Feeling accomplished now that I'm breaking into to larger pieces, which has been on my to-do list forever. 

Threw my first pots in almost 8 months, used my mixed clay blend with course grog and chicken grit. Made 3 vases! felt good.

Woof! Thank you Min and Kaitlynne for resurrecting my hershey8   account. It's been a long time since I've been able to communicate  with my fellow potters and ceramists on this forum. Trouble began when someone stole one of my laptops. Hershey disappeared/presumed dead, years ago. I still love seeing his face and green eyes on this site...."His spirit shadows me everywhere I go"  john autry (hershey8) CHEERS!

Finally playing in the mud today with no adverse side effects...hands felt good on the clay...centering seemed easier

Got the stitches out of my hand today and will be able to get my hands on the clay in about a week. The orthopedist said that throwing would be excellent exercise...

Well,  hot diggity dog--I have received an invite from the Ceramics Art Network's magazine, Ceramics Monthly, to write a short article w/pics for the Quick Tip series. It will be about my simple "works for me" inventory/storage system.

Lee is feeling rejuvenated----freakin' about time!! When the art center w/the anagama kiln suddenly closed, it  threw me for a loop--didn't see quite how much until I realized I was doing much of nothing!  

Finally got a new splash pan, for my classroom Shimpo RK-2.  The old yellow one, has probably been on there, since the Carter Administration.  It had been cracked, since I started in the District, and I have been meaning to replace it.  Finally, last year a bat flew off, and shatter one of the sides.  So that forced my hand. 
The wheel head *really* didn't want to come off.  I actually had to remove the entire axle, just to get leverage, from the underside of the wheel head, to remove it.  Half a can of "Liquid Wrench" didn't really help, until that point. 
Now, I just have to remove as much as possible, from the frame, so I can remove the rust and old paint, and give it a fresh coat. 

I am relatively new to ceramic arts as a whole and VERY new to making my own glazes.
