  5. Another day of the Adult Ceramics class. Regular teacher could not be there, so I had another art teacher as the teacher while I assisted. Demonstrated a 3lb bowl first then a 15lb with elbow open up. Lots of fun. Will keep the for door prizes.

  6. I tookout my URL for now because I am moving my web site and don't want to put a prolonged "under construction" thing out there.

  7. perils of moving into a used house. It took 3 city water dept. guys 2 hours to find the turn off valve for the water system as a pipe was leaking from being frozen. They found the meter and the turn off valve behind a built in structure in the basement. So much for working on organizing the studio. Plumber comes tomorrow. One guy was the former mayor.

  8. Back to work in the studio. Still recovering from sore throat and cough.

  9. It's 7AM; 1080 deg F on my first kiln firing in more than 4 years and the first ever ^04 bisque/glaze firing with my new Orton digital controller...The first 2 hours were a real disappointment when i saw the TCL message on the controller. The kiln didn't fire. I had ultimately realized that I hadn't pushed the reset button on the kiln sitter. Pushed the button and the kiln came to life! The firing took 12Hrs 18 min, but only reached 1941 degrees which is about halfway between ^...

  10. I think it is weird science day. I have had these ideas for oddity glazes rolling around in my head for a month now. Good day to test them.

  11. In my non-clay world, I deal with hackers and data security...it is no contest, clay is much more fun even when it is frustrating :)

  12. I just got a great report back from an artist friend, her son is taking his first ceramics class in high school, so I gave him an hour lesson on the wheel one night when they were over visiting. His ceramics class just had their first day throwing on treadle wheels and he was able to throw a nice pot on his first try, the instructor told him he was the best new student he'd ever had! His mom and dad are both artists so I think he has great natural talent as well. His parents want to w...

  14. Yea, first test, ^04, fired great. I rebuilt my small kiln, Paragon A-82B, new bricks, elements and controller rewired with new infinite switches. Now I go for the gold, ^6.

  15. Throwing tomorrow for the first time in months. I want to make a million things but I'm going to keep it small so I don't overdo it. So excited!!

  19. Had laser surgery on my left eye due to retinal tears. The floaters are annoying me.

  20. Somewhat slow going, since the guy assisting me with my web design/development is doing it pro bono (i.e. no charge-he owes me LOL) but it's off to a good start and I am psyched about making a functional site with an online store.

  21. I've got Mudtools!!! And Xiem carving tools. If you don't live in Africa then you don't understand how exciting this is These type of tools are just not available over on this side of the planet

  22. I had some Laguna ^5 Porcelain sitting around in a 5gal bucket for a year or so. Sooo, I cleaned my wheel of stoneware (spotless) and my tools, so I made some candle holders with in the Mishima technique. Do you think it would be better to fire with a clear glaze of without? I want the colors in the design to be bright.
