GiselleNo5 got a reaction from oldlady for a gallery image, Eucalyptus Grove Platter
This is my very first platter or plate of any kind, although I have made a few pie plates.

I actually intended this to be a pie plate but accidentally "stepped on the gas" just as I was finishing so the walls spun out almost flat. I decided it was a platter instead. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

White stoneware, thrown on the pottery wheel, carved in a design of eucalyptus leaves in the wind. Glazed in Mayco's Stoned Denim at ^6 in an electric kiln. (Actually fired twice because the first time a cookie exploded and got shards everywhere.)

This is a 14oz-16oz wheel-thrown, stoneware mug with slab-built (black only) keys attached to a carved/altered keyboard design. The handle idea is NOT original but borrowed/copied/altered from another artist's project. When I find the name, I will certainly give proper attribution. Interior is glazed with Woo's Blue. Exterior details are black and white, brushed-on, Amaco Velvet underglazes with a top coating of clear.

This is a concept mug for a commissioned gift project that is currently underway. The basic form and structure may remain the same but the color scheme for the actual project will be altered considerably.

GiselleNo5 got a reaction from AndreaB for a gallery image, Carved poppy tumbler in Slate Blue, Side A
This is my carved poppy design with Stoned Denim by Spectrum instead of bringing out the poppies in a variety of bright underglazes and covering them with clear. A friend requested a mug in this color so I wanted to try it out on the little tumbler first to make sure the design showed up. It's a lot more subtle than the bright colors against cream but I really like it anyway. This is just plain carved and glazed straight; the other one has iron oxide on the flowers, but it really doesn't make a noticeable difference (I wouldn't have seen it unless I already knew) so I'm going to skip the extra step next time.

This is one of my very first wheel-thrown pieces. It's made with Speckled Buff from Laguna and slip trailed with white. Even just in the three months since I threw this I can see a huge leap in both my throwing and slip trailing. So grateful to finally see progress!

This is my best mug to date. The back has carvings, but it was impossible to photograph...well, for ME it was, haha!
It probably holds 20oz, so it's a good size.
I wanted to make a new mythology about how flowers grow...
Terracotta with white slip and greenware-applied underglaze, fired to ^03.

This one, I thought I'd try making a toothbrush holder but only got about halfway as high as I wanted, so I decided to do a weird sort of avant garde sponge holder. It looks weird but it will work. My sister is probably going to steal this one, she's been hinting.

The mug was a mistake. I lifted the clay too quickly while pinching too hard. I ended up with ridges and a slightly uneven rim. My first impulse was to throw it into the recycle bucket but there was something about it that I liked. I trimmed off the unevenness at the rim and threw a ripply bowl to match. The next day I added some intricate slip trailing and I can't tell you how glad I am that I kept them after all. These are two of my favorite things I've ever made.
