  1. From the album: More wood firings

This slab is made of Death valley clay, helmet Kaoling was rolled into the surface, then stretched to cause the crack surface, then Bauer dry flashing skip was applied over paper masking, a pot was fired on top. I think of "in search of Jasper Johns when I look at it. I really love this one.

Ha ha. I wish I could slow down. Tomorrow four projects on the house we're selling in TX. replace cracked tiles, fixed garage door opener, and spackle nail holes and paint, and replace a section of broken pipe on the sprinkler system. Hoping to start back to Montana Thursday.

I bet it feels good in your hand. I am in Cottonwood, AZ right now. Is this near the red rock area you were firing at?

I thought it was in Montana but you travel so much. Everything around here is called Red Rock something.

As someone who has to go-it-alone, I envy anyone who has a crew or community that comes together for any clay activity.

  13. we start loading the train kiln today. Snowed last night. Bringing a pot of lentil soup for lunch for the crew.

So how long will the fires be stoked?

  14. tis is a first for me, Threw in the morning trimmed in the afternoon and loaded that evening. Had to get the firing done. Lost three pieces out of about 50. But now I have enough to fill my allotted amount for the up coming wood firing. So happy to be getting some finished pieces soon. It has been a while since I broke down my studio in Nov.The electricity was connected to my kiln shed last Thurs. All kilns are functioning after their 1780 mile journey north.

It was porcelain. Babu. I didn't like throwing it but the handles were good. and didn't crack. Very forgiving but I like Colemen better.

  15. Fired my first bisque in Red Lodge last night. After several different delays due to online missing attachments on both sides, myself and the electric company, I finally have power to the kilns, Just in time to prepare for next week's wood firing with the Red Lodge clay Center.

  16. Firing my first bisque in my new kiln shed. Wiring happened today. Loaded late this afternoon and firing a tube stacked load for the wood firing happening next week. Each person is allocated 18 cu. ft in the train kiln.

  17. Got rid of 2 rubbermaid storage containers of porcelain, plus boxed raku clay and Armadillo porcelain. I have clay waiting for me in red Lodge, so I don't need to take more 1800 miles. Moving sucks.

We moved 10 years ago, moved all of the boxes, clothes and small stuff ourselves. Hired mover for the large stuff. We had a 3 story house plus a basement where my studio was located. Best money ever spent.
