Inspired by visit to Jen McCurdy's studio 3 years ago. Very modest attempts at modifying a bowl in her style! Lots of time and effort into these 5" bowls.

White earthenware bowl. Carved when leather hard. Grey underglaze painted into lines and scraped back to neaten. Transparent glaze.

Semi porcelain bowl altered edge. Carved when leather hard, airbrush-sprayed with dilute wash of copper and cobalt oxides before bisque.btransoarent glaze over.

Love doing this Adam Field style carving - very therapeutic! Have designed similar patterns of my own for future pieces.

Thrown white earthenware, linear additions, Holes carved then dots added. Wash of copper oxide and cobalt carbonate airbrushed when bone dry. Bisqued to 1000oC. Transparent glaze poured over, fired to 1100oC.

After reading CAD article about making your own transfers, I tried this using a rubber stamp with stain & frit 50:50 mix. Stamped on to tissue paper, applied to leather hard clay. Bisqued to 1000oC. Dipped in transparent glaze & fired to 1100oC in an electric kiln.

Thin slabs textured with bark, stamps, shells etc. - pieces attached to back part with front cut edge eased forwards to emphasise the contrast between the organic and engineered. Oxide washes applied at dry greenware stage, fixed in the bisqued firing. 3 back pieces were dipped in transparent glaze, front one dipped in tin white (to cover a repair that fired a different colour!). Fired to 1100oC in electric kiln.

Small white earthenware creamer decorated with Japanese tissue transfer over a negative transfer test I cut on my silhouette cutter. Not glazed yet. Blue and white with a modern twist.
