  1. I put a huge bowl of water out at the edge of our driveway during the summer for dogs out for a walk. Went to change the water just now and somebody has stolen the bowl. Hmmm, back to using a bucket rather than one of my bowls.

Maybe put out a piece with a small defect?    Try it again.   On the outside chance, the bowl was empty and whoever got it just thought it was being discarded?   I make a lot of little signs on slabs around  and use around my retail store.   Maybe put a little stone sign out there  "Fur Babies" Only!  Or something like that.

I usually give people another chance.   Although, it rarely works out.

That's really horrible for someone to take something so generously placed for our furry companions .......

  4. Hi Jawpot,

I am trying to decipher from the posts the end result of outcome of the legal aspects discussed in making your own lamp and selling it in a retail store.

Long story short,  I have made some really cool lamps, handmade out of a resin base, with a e26 socket with cord I bought on Amazon and a Frosted lamp shade.

I local shop in my town wants to sell them.  I am trying to decide or figure out if I can do this or if it opens be to a lot of liability and law/code breaking issues.  Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated?!

Also, I noticed you mentioned you spoke to an attorney, would you be able to refer to this attorney if I need to get further legal advice?  Thank you in advance  for any response you can give.

First, set up LLC, with more than 1 person.   I've found family members work best.

Purchased on Amazon, the electrical liability should fall back on the Amazon seller.   Unless, something would be faulty from your design, causing damage or some sort of fire.

  5. Thank you to all who reached out about how we are doing from the big earthquake. I only lost 5 cereal bowls at my xmas booth and zero breakage at studio. Our home is fine as we are prepared for quakes and have out styff bolted to wall and our water heater and solar tanks are straped to walls. Yes we had stuff fall but it all made it fine. This was my best earthquake as pottery damage was so light. Our house is bolted to foundation as well so its fine to.

  7. Gas prices are now  2.09 Litre for regular, whoohoo, we have the highest gas prices in North America. (7.90 CA dollars per US gallon)

Can't imagine these rising costs won't cut down on disposable income for our merchandise.       I  only drive about 3000 miles a year.     Mississippi prices were $3.29 a few days ago but heard they went up 20 cents in an afternoon.

  8. 9,600 watt solar system is up and running after 5 months of on and off agin work on it.If the suns out we are gettting prepaid power.24 400 watt panels

      DirtRoads

Exciting stuff here.  What brand solar panels do you have?   I've been looking at Renogy.     If you don't mind, share more specifics?  The big ground array 40x13 ... is that a shed?   What controller you use?  Where you house the batteries and controller?   AGM batteries?   Thanks.

Looking at 4800 watts for $6500 system ... just looking ... no decision yet.  The 9600 sounds more useful.

Waiting for the governor's office to get me this small grant.   They said after Christmas because I need time to put specifics in my proposal.  Also, the power company said they would send someone out ... in case I wanted to recycle excess power (like you doubt I would have any). Or just to advise, they have someone that has the experience, once I have an outline of exactly what I will buy.

R&L Trucking brings my clay.   All of their trucks have a lift gate.   I have a little landing pad and an asphalt drive to the front of my studio.   My part time worker brings them in ... about 15 steps to inside storage.    I am thinking about a little pole shed there to store.  Right now we bring inside.   Could you have yours dropped at the shed? And I get my shipment 2k pounds a month.   Is there an economic incentive to order more?   I couldn't load that clay.   We take it out in 25 pound bags.  And that is so nice of you to help that friend.   You mix her clay from dry clay?

Yes.  I got 2 responses on my productivity question from people who have never posted here.    They actually went to my website.  One of them has 28 employees.    I have another forum member that's on my Face Book and chats occasionally, who used to post here.  I guess some people don't post on forums.

Friend who owns pottery store still firing my stuff in exchange for trimming. Switched from jewelry, just not my bag after giving it a good try, to mosaics. I like the fine art aspect.

  23. Just did an initial mix of my dry Laguna glazes. I've been buying premixed all this time. I feel kind of like I'm making a cake from boxed mix after buying them at bakeries all my life. ;) One day I'll make one from scratch.

I've used dry before but went back to the premixed. Just to save the time.
