I love how hands on Raku and horsehair is. Not only do I connect with my ancestral potters, my inner pyro is quite satisfied.

glazenerd reacted to Celia UK for a gallery image, Two small flame bowls
Inspired by visit to Jen McCurdy's studio 3 years ago. Very modest attempts at modifying a bowl in her style! Lots of time and effort into these 5" bowls.

glazenerd reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, last firing And results 016
group of bowls of different sizes. have not sold bowls at the holiday sale for years, lots of other potters make bowls. and beautiful mugs so i do not do them either. i think i have a niche but i noticed that this year there are other folks doing similar sized flats.

glazenerd reacted to Mistfit for a gallery image, Lidded Container - Dog Treats
I am fairly new to pottery and I am just getting to the point where I am happy with some of the things I am making. This form is 4lbs which is one of the largest I have worked on. I am pleased with it as it was not overly wonky. I added the dog collar on this morning..

∆6 oxidation
Brush wax with cobalt oxide was applied to make the river so this decorative large bowl has a slight texture to it.

glazenerd reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Flambe blue and golden raisin b-mix bowl ^6 recution
I had forgotten about this bowl, it was one of my first larger bowls thus a little heavy. I love the flecks that Flambe blue makes. Sometimes it is red, sometimes blue, sometimes purple depending on where in the kiln it is.

glazenerd reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Tenmoku and Blue Chun Bowl
Made 4 matching bowls in this glaze combo and B-Mix. I have to say, I LOVE how b-mix throws, I can get the walls so thin and delicate. The colors show up fabulous on it as well. Only problem is when I remove the pots from the wheel white wet, if they warp even slightly, they held that warp through firing. Personally, I am okay with this, as the pieces were very thin with undeveloped lips to hold their shape, and they otherwise feel ok. Had no problems with cracking, only the warping.
I don't have many other options for white or light clay bodies, so I will probably continue to use it.

glazenerd reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Oatmeal and Oxblood Reduction
We borrowed our friend's light-box this weekend and went to town! This is an oatmeal and reduction red called oxblood on a heavy iron-filing filled recycled clay body. Cone 6 reduction. I am not sure about the thumb rest myself, but people seem to love it and are requesting more!

glazenerd reacted to ChenowethArts for a gallery image, Keyboard Mug - Note Handle
This is a 14oz-16oz wheel-thrown, stoneware mug with slab-built (black only) keys attached to a carved/altered keyboard design. The handle idea is NOT original but borrowed/copied/altered from another artist's project. When I find the name, I will certainly give proper attribution. Interior is glazed with Woo's Blue. Exterior details are black and white, brushed-on, Amaco Velvet underglazes with a top coating of clear.
This is a concept mug for a commissioned gift project that is currently underway. The basic form and structure may remain the same but the color scheme for the actual project will be altered considerably.
