Pyewackette reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Flambe blue and golden raisin b-mix bowl ^6 recution
I had forgotten about this bowl, it was one of my first larger bowls thus a little heavy. I love the flecks that Flambe blue makes. Sometimes it is red, sometimes blue, sometimes purple depending on where in the kiln it is.

Pyewackette reacted to Cavy Fire Studios for a gallery image, Mr. Shrike's Head
The final result of my first animal head sculpture. I'm quite pleased with how this turned out--as you can imagine, I was sweating when this piece was in the kiln!! My fella, its intended and current owner, was extremely happy when he got it for Christmas. <3
Sculpted from Clay Art Center (of Tacoma)'s Xtra White lowfire earthenware, painted with Amaco, Mayco, Duncan, and Clay Art Center underglaze, fired to ^03.

Pyewackette reacted to terrim8 for a gallery image, small footed tall-ish bowl with soda-shell debris beside it
The bit of pink flashing at the top was from some oribe in the kiln. Some mix of flashing slips??? The taco debris looks like a mineral depost of tuffa or something from a black smoker!

Pyewackette reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, lovebirds And heart leaf tray 008
new birds will have longer branches to stand on. this design was for a much smaller tray.
well, the bad news is that i smashed this by dropping one end of a shelf as i was putting it away. the good news is that i don't have to figure out a way of getting it back to wv.

Pyewackette reacted to firenflux for a gallery image, Big circles vase (1)
This is my favorite piece I have made to date. I sold it about a year ago but haven't made another one yet. It's wheel thrown with applied colored engobes. It's hand carved and textured with pulled handles and commercial glazes. Fired to ^6 electric.

Pyewackette reacted to firenflux for a gallery image, double wave Cup (2)
I do a lot of this nautical wave pattern on my pieces. this was the first cup I stacked 2 of the patterns on top of each other. I actually meant to glaze the interior with a different liner but I really liked the combination anyway after it was fired. applied engobe, with sgraffito, commercial glazes. Fired ^6 electric.

Pyewackette reacted to firenflux for a gallery image, branch vase
This vase is about 6 square. I threw it then carved grooves in the top and bottom. The grooved sections get a couple coats of black engobe because I like the way the glaze looks over the black. The middle is black engobe with paper branches then blue engobe then the paper is peeled off. It has commercial glazes and was fired to cone 6 in my electric kiln. I tried to get fancy with the picture.

I have carved some floral designs onto some of my parian vases. I think they would make lovely candle holders or lamp shades. New direction possible.

I'm obsessed with organic textures, this glaze finish was inspired by actual tree bark, from a tree outside my studio.
