oldlady got a reaction from shawnhar for a gallery image, 2016 improvements
new slabroller extension and cleaning up the excess that had collected on the back table makes studio neater and easier to use. additional drywall sheets added on new tabletop storage rack adds 1/3 more space for finished work waiting for firing. there are 4 of the closet organizers, each with ten shelves of drywall. only 2 drawers with supplies, all the rest are drywall approx 18x24 inches. except for lizard poop, studio stays surprisingly clean.

I love how hands on Raku and horsehair is. Not only do I connect with my ancestral potters, my inner pyro is quite satisfied.

oldlady got a reaction from Marko for a gallery image, READY FOR HOLIDAY SALE 2016 007
awkward area between sections but it still holds a lot of pots in racks. the hanging pocket is for dried flowers only, it will not hold water and is labelled as such.

oldlady reacted to Celia UK for a gallery image, Two small flame bowls
Inspired by visit to Jen McCurdy's studio 3 years ago. Very modest attempts at modifying a bowl in her style! Lots of time and effort into these 5" bowls.

group of bowls of different sizes. have not sold bowls at the holiday sale for years, lots of other potters make bowls. and beautiful mugs so i do not do them either. i think i have a niche but i noticed that this year there are other folks doing similar sized flats.

My last firing included large slabs and a load of loaded tile racks. Now I have to disassemble and move.

oldlady reacted to terrim8 for a gallery image, Forest Picotee
I made a stamp of some trees, mixed it with a purchased tree stamp and poked a lot of holes in the porcelain. Wasn't sure how to spell the word Picotee- doesn't it need an accent over one of the e's? This one is my ode to xc skiing, when its snowing but very quiet- i.e. all you can hear are your skis in the snow.

this shape, square, plate is a fast seller at $16, the circular things go into a basket labeled "little treasures" and generates a lot of interest and many sales.

ginko leaf tray done in Oribe green. recipe is not stable. proved with the vinegar test. tray sold to same person who bought the tree of life rectangular tray. new glaze on bottom tray. different recipe done with the new copper carbonate that is not like the old stuff. much weaker color. lots of re-fires with this glaze. have to get used to pouring it on thickly with my sprayer. have increased amount of copper to 5% since this piece.
