Morgan
Laguna has been out and has no ETA at all when they will be getting stock. Anyone have an more info on what is going on? Mining issue I am assuming...
neilestrick
If you need it for glazes, just about any kaolin will work. I've used Sapphire, grolleg, Tile 6, etc, without problems. Russ and Morgan
Hulk
"Nearby*" supplier of choice carries local product "Ione Kaolin" - the price appears very reasonable. I look forward to trying it out, next time I make the trip. *Ninety miles to IMCO, Sacramento, CA baetheus
Mark C.
Its been a weather issue I'm told-from the big rains in the south affecting mining.. We are living in a less stable climate time and wet materials do not mine well The tile 6 works fine in glazes Edited August 10, 2023 by Mark C. Most of my glazes actually prefer grolleg but it is a tad pricier usually, but if it comes to it later tile 6 is fine for sure. Talking to Laguna they were fairly tight lipped on any updates or timeframes. Anyway, just curious. Thanks! Thanks Mark ^^ thats seems like a likely explanation, cheers
Mark C.
grolleg will always be pricier than domestic clays-The shipping is killer Morgan

Sure thing. Just putting it out there in case you or someone else needed it. Morgan
Mark C.
So I have some EPK news They got hit (the mine) a year or two ago with a big hurricane and then the vein they where mining ran out and they have had to move the whole operation (lots of machinery) to another site on the property. They are now back up and shipping it out once again I still had two bags as I'm a hoarder of materials-which is a good thing if its your business Callie Beller Diesel
Denice
I was searching through my supplies yesterday checking out my Kaolin clays for mixing my white slip tests. My largest supply is EPK, does anyone have a different Kaolin that they think I should test. The only thing I was totally out of was Lithium, then I remembered the last time I got supplies it was so expensive I decided to wait until I really needed it. Russ
I believe Georgia kaolin fires even whiter than epk. Not as plastic but in this case doesnt matter much. And its cheeper.
Min
New Zealand halloyiste is really white but it's expensive. Could always add some zircopax to your epk if you find it isn't white enough.
