Thank you to all who reached out about how we are doing from the big earthquake. I only lost 5 cereal bowls at my xmas booth and zero breakage at studio. Our home is fine as we are prepared for quakes and have out styff bolted to wall and our water heater and solar tanks are straped to walls. Yes we had stuff fall but it all made it fine. This was my best earthquake as pottery damage was so light.Our house is bolted to foundation as well so its fine to.

Hi, I guess I'm a newbie, lol. I enjoy all forms of art but recently have been mesmerized by clay and all the wonderful things you can make with it. My journey is just beginning so there is so much for me to learn and experience when it comes to clay.

Way to go @Hulk! I've enjoyed your insights from that "Pile 'o sand" in southern CA...It doesn't seem like you've been with us for only 4 years!

congrats to Hulk and the management who picked him!  glad to know another Tom, all the many i know are great guys.

I am currently building a fiber blanket kiln using a steel dog kennel, 2x2x3 ft.  Hopefully I will be able to finish firing these pots.  

the kiln is loaded and Im waiting for a friend to deliver 100 gallons of used motor oil

Ordered a new Paragon XL Caldera test kiln today.  My old kiln needs new elements again.   I need to have a controller on it to get accurate test firings.  By the time I have it rewired and add a controller I would have the price of a new kiln.  It will be the end of Sept.  when it shows up.   Already have a list of tests  piling up in my head.     Denice

It's been 7 weeks since my spine surgery and I'm happy to say that the procedure was a total success! I'm back to doing everything that I couldn't do and more. No back or leg pain at all. Looking forward to firing up the wheel again!

Just thought I would let everyone know that I am still alive.   We had a tornado across the street from us last night.  It was turning east so it missed us but it did a lot of damage to a small town a mile from us.  Denice

potentiometer for the CXC Brent arrived today, put it in when I find a few minutes. Flooding did the thing in!

It's official, and medical mystery solved.  I have Addison's disease.  So an end to 30 years of declining functioning and having my issues foisted off on alleged "mental problems".  Too late to rescue any of my multiple careers - but at least I still have enough life left, and now the energy, to spend lotsa time playing in the mud!

I love all things clay, especially the wonderful people I have met as a result of my passion for pottery.  Out of retirement from a nearly 15 year hiatus I am setting up my 'retirement pottery'.  Formerly (2002-2008) I owned Rare Earth Pottery in Stuart, FL. I made this out of polymer clay, I thought it was really enjoyable!

Electric pottery wheels are basically pretty much all the same! It’s just how each company puts it’s own little twist how they get from point A to Z. Electric motors that pottery companies install in there wheels are a common motor that are made for many uses for all kinds things. By using a common motor like this they keep the price of there wheel down to the public! It’s in how they control the motor is where they very the most, but in the end they all are doing the same thing! U can pretty much replace company A  control system with company B control system as long as u match up the correct size controller to the size of the electric motor on your wheel!
