  1. Back from NC, great conference considering everything. Looks like next year they are going to have 3 Japanese potters from Japan, and a tea master for an authentic tea ceremony. I can't remember the names, but it sounded like they should be pretty reputable. John you may know them if I could remember names. Very tired after the long drive.

  4. Big bisque load in last night, 8 teapots, mugs, chalices, mortar and pestles, lot of stuff to glaze this week during the warmer 60F. days.

      It's been 90-100 degrees here. I might have an hour or two in the mornings of 70's in the garage.

      been 80s to 90s here, but then I like the heat more than the cold. Humidity is high though!

  6. Chalice and patens this week, after a few larger bowls, and a canister set. Hope to bisque this weekend, but rain is keeping things wet.

  7. Dealing with bursitis right now. . should have known better than to cut in ceilings without breaks for painting rental. Oh well, no clay for a while.

      Mississippi, wow, thought your deer were smaller than that-he was a big un. No luck, but my son got 5 pt. about 170.

  12. Getting together Christmas pots for orders and family and friends. Sudden cold makes the shop chilly. Have to wear insulated pants!

  13. Glaze firing started yesterday, kiln open on low at 5pm, 8pm closed with no plugs at high, 12am backed to 3/4, checked at 3am,up at 7 to check , ^6 nearly down-turned all to high, 7:20 am ^6 is down, kiln cut back to 30% turn off soon by noon.

      3 am wake up was mine, no alarm, but in the past I have found that best not ignore a wakeup-just get dressed and go check. . too bad it was snowing!

      I get the "way we always did it", that way myself building houses. I am however very attached to my digital controllers.

  14. Glaze load firing tonight, fire off in the morning, then the long wait!

  15. Glaze load is out, grinding bottoms, turned out really well, Rutile green worked well, but white liner needs work.

  16. Glaze load last night. Shut off at 3:30am. Tired this morning. Long wait to see what new glaze did.

      Mark, I would love to visit, but 9hrs is a bit tough. We fly into Sacramento then have the drive down, and the drive to kings and sequoia.

  25. Just on the big island last year. Always wondered about the cost of setting up a studio in the islands. I imagine clay can be expensive.

    Nice pieces, Are you using a Bailey extruder? One of their standard dies does the sea shell/bowl sort of thing. Used it in the 80's for some stuff, but not as nice as yours.
