Thrown porcelain vase, cut vertically from rim. Textured slab attached with slip. Copper & cobalt oxide wash applied to bone dry greenware. Bisqued to 1000oC. Transparent glaze poured inside and brushed on textured addition. Fired to 1200oC (cone 6/7). Gold lustre highlights added then fired to 780oC.

Thrown porcelain. Wax resist all over, carved when leather hard. Black underglaze inlay painted over and wiped back. Bisqued to 1000oC. Orange underglaze highlights added. Transparent glaze poured and dipped then fired to cone 6/7.

This is my expanded kiln shed holding all 7 of my kilns and a soldier mixer on wheels. 3 various sized electric including the huge oval in the center, plus 4 various sized raku kilns that I use for obvara, saggar including soluble salts, raku and foil saggar. The pulley kiln is open with the chamber raised. This shed will provide shelter for firing in the winter as well as compliance with open burning during forest fire season. Very much relieved to have this .

Always wanted to put raku fired items in my flower beds. Last summer I sealed this raku fired leaf with a gloss clear uv sealer and left it outside.
Today the snow melted so I took a picture. Pleased to see that after being out side on the sun, rain, and freezing snow it still has the copper color.

Spring is almost here. Thousands of Sandhill Cranes are gathering along the feeding grounds of the Platte River in central Nebraska before continuing on to Canada.
I finally did something related to the event.
