Was doing a forum search on rare eath oxides such as Yttrium, Holium, and Samarium: wonder why these never came up in topics before?

I refer to them as oxides because most usually do; they are actually lanthanides.
-
Interesting- had to google it. The oxide is used in glass and it is an interesting read.
-
Does the Holium add pinholes :-)

Picked up a bag each of Grolleg, McNamee, NZ, Helmer, and FHC: let the clay body tests continue.

Joseph: It will be over a month before I get done testing various parameters. I work with a five clay blend recipe.

Oh my mistake. Fun stuff?
-
Ah that's not too bad. Did a little maths and it comes out at £0.90 a kg and I pay £0.70 a kg

Made a slip from my new clay formula and cast my 12 x16 arched tile mold yesterday. Popped it out of the mold and hour later and it is still perfectly flat this afternoon. First time that has happened.

Ordered technical grade/s of kaolins and one ball clay. Iron content is 0.08 which translates to super white porcelain.

Mark- check your email.

Iron content is a typo I just now seen: should read 0.18%

How much $ per #? I am curious how cheap of stuff we are getting?

Picking up 3 stoneware and 4 porcelain clay bodies Tuesday: along with a list of modifiers. It is time to put to use what Ron roy taught me.

Closing on my office/warehouse in a couple of more days. The question now becomes: what studio toy should I buy?

so i have been contemplating this, and I think you need a 6x6 dance floor in the middle of the studio so when a good song comes on you can just drop what your doing and break down. for example:

If you're really feeling groovy you can mirror the ceiling so your disco ball really lights up the place.

And, glazenerd, it's life I'm high on. Thank you very much. LOL

Recieved my first commissioned work today. A large tile mural at City Hall depicting city history. The high school art class and local college art class will be involved. I get to mix in my beloved crystalline pieces as well.

I thought Community Challenge #5 would be a cake walk because I am a tile guy. After seeing just a few posts, I am getting very very nervous. Forgot how talented the people are in here. Do judges take bribes?

Paul: what I like about your work the most: always outside of the box.
-
Bruce: I know it is a challenge: just having some fun with it. Stirring the pot with a little throw down.

I have had good results from offering a virtual foot rub.

I have been on the forum for roughly a month now. I must say it is an honor to see the works of so many talented and gifted people. The willingness to share knowledge and information is also commendable. Just thought it needed to be said.

Joel: those who think they know it all are the ones who have stopped learning.

I think pottery is an area where your vista is constantly expanding ... The more you learn, the less you know for sure. The narrower your focus, the wider your possibilities.
-
The more years in ceramics it seem the less I know

What is the difference between arrogance and confidence? Arrogance requires a voice, confidence is assured even when silent.
