Marko reacted to oldlady for a gallery image, Kim K Red flower prints 004
the red rib is one kim used and i figured i would get the right kind. anyone interested in this technique should look at her facebook page. last year she showed the things she was getting ready for the sale called "Tour de Clay" that happens every year in early december. i try to arrive in time to go on the tour of studios. always educational and fun. be sure to notice the amazing purple vine.

it worked!!! well, of course, i am learning a skill, not making a product so this first attempt has a lot of things i hope to improve on the next ones. i still cannot paint but this looks so simple, maybe i can do something that is ok.

I have carved some floral designs onto some of my parian vases. I think they would make lovely candle holders or lamp shades. New direction possible.

Marko reacted to firenflux for a gallery image, Green geometric cup
I love all the varied shapes a good mug comes in. The shape is my current favorite. It works well to separate the textured areas from the geometric sgraffito in the bottom. It has a pulled handle and commercial glazes and was fired to cone 6 electric.

Marko got a reaction from oldlady for a gallery image, Bluebird with ribbon
This is a test for my new sushi plates. From this I will make others with corrections that I think will work best. Like outlining the bird. This is one of an animal series. They will be wall hangers and serving plates. Cool right? Comments welcome. Measures 7.25"x11".

Marko reacted to Cavy Fire Studios for a gallery image, Mr. Shrike's Head
The final result of my first animal head sculpture. I'm quite pleased with how this turned out--as you can imagine, I was sweating when this piece was in the kiln!! My fella, its intended and current owner, was extremely happy when he got it for Christmas. <3
Sculpted from Clay Art Center (of Tacoma)'s Xtra White lowfire earthenware, painted with Amaco, Mayco, Duncan, and Clay Art Center underglaze, fired to ^03.
