Reduction

This one was too tiny to trim with my Giffin so I put it inside another cup. Didn't realize how crooked it was till I took it off, so I decided to go with it and made a topsy turvy cup. The slip trailing reminds me of Ankylosaurus armor.

Laser cut test tile. Checking that fine lines stay straight.

Love old images so did an Alchemy mug. Skull and various alchemal symbols, old science images on other side. Waterslide decals on HP printer.

#1 strike fire to 1350F with 30 min. hold. Tile #2 control piece, color before strike.

Cone 5 B-Mix, carved and glazed in Stoned Denim from Mayco.

these square dishes sell fast, i hope people like the new color. it is from the overspray during glazing in 2015. i added some copper carb for the greenish look. have only a gallon or so because of its origin.

This is a large, 3.5+ quart, mixing bowl that is part of a commission project for a retiring university dean. You might guess that the dean had something to do with the music program...and that would be correct. The bowl stands 7" tall and is a full 12" wide at the rim. The black keys were added individually to the wheel thrown piece and later brushed with Amaco Velvet underglaze. The exterior is glazed with Woo's Blue. The interior is Pete's Cranberry. A final light coat of clear was sprayed over the underglazes section for additional sheen. This is a Cone 10 reduction piece.

These are the final mugs of the commissioned work for the dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts.
