and to you, joseph.   just found and re-read the Hydria challenge in 2015.  your entry was great, what did you do with it?

Both I mean the reduction kiln is still a massive WIP so that will probably be on the back burner. Saying that so is my electric kiln controller. The only kiln that wasn't bodged by me needs a bit more juice so once I get that sorted it will be easy electric firings.

October 16th. Yea I guess this is how potters do the gender reveal lol? I don't really know. I just felt like making a nice satin blue glaze to go with my work. Got like 40 tiles in the kiln right now and some nuka test with wood ash.

Yes! I single-fire a good bit of work. Sometimes I bisque and sometimes I single fire it just depends. It would have been fine if I had turned on my preheat. Haha.

Single firing, I take it? 
I have neither the skill nor disposition to attempt that...  I have had some of my students, make that decision for me though.  Thus far, it has been on wares, that I didn't stack...

Lucky dog is right-almost a real large disaster -hey if it easy everyone woiuld be doing it

I just finished cleaning it. L&L so nice. A pocket knife to lift the elements up slightly and vacuum under them and it took me about 30 minutes to make it look brand spanking new again. But yes. I am very lucky. It would have destroyed my kiln. There were shards of clay covered in glaze everywhere. I would have had to replace tons of bricks, element holders and elements. I am very fortunate today!

I learned to avoid this a while ago. Now when my wife takes off say 5 days from work. We schedule a 3 day vacation and rest 2 days at home after the 3 day beach trip. The go go go of vacation can wear you out. Particularly with kids! Hope you get feeling better@!

I used this and a clear in a line blend to get an excellent satin white liner glaze. Came out to use 40% clear and 60% dolomite matte. Had 3 good candidates to choose from. I was looking for a white liner that was not to shiny but not scratchy.

It's a wonderful career to have, Joseph. I too have been an economist but have spent the last twenty years teaching secondary math with a middle grades specialty.
