cats inspired by those originally done by Evelyne, not our Evelyne S, but a different potter. her cats are fabulous and i asked permission to adapt them to my stuff. thank you Evelyne.

more color this year. not everything is green.
  6. From the album: glazed winter pots WooHoo!

color added by respraying too light original. it is hard to judge how much is too little when spraying. especially bisque! this was refired on the bottom shelf with several other things that were too pale.

are these butterdishes identical? give up? look at the centers of the "flowers" to see two different treatments.
  8. From the album: glazed winter pots WooHoo!

large edges on a cracker tray. lets people see the design even when it is filled with crackers. or whatever.

these square dishes sell fast, i hope people like the new color. it is from the overspray during glazing in 2015. i added some copper carb for the greenish look. have only a gallon or so because of its origin.
  10. wonderful idea. hope you sell tons of them. where is the guitar mug?
  11. next time i will use a thick paint roller on the original slab. i hate the brush marks. and i will remember to remove the leaves on time. hope i have many next times. the pale piece is too pale, just needs more copper.

    2015/16 winter pots

new design for imprinting pots. fake flowers made with leaves of Tibouchina, the end of a potato peeler and my ball stylus. layout is ok but i want to do another one.

well, the best laid plans............. not my best glaze job. found some lumps at the edges of leaves. maybe firing with the leaves affected the piece badly after all.
  14. those crystals are definitely macro.
  15. how much clay did you start with?
  16. Cocker spangles are pretty dogs...................................
  17. darn! ran out of likes! i like it.
  18. rough out sizes of the finished pots to choose where to put the slab and roll it in. each shape can be different. the slab at the top is ready to be re-cut to final size.

covered in a transparent green glaze this will be a great pot. the dragonfly will be different, maybe purple. MAY 6 UPDATE. came out with lumps in several places. have to suspect leaf bits that my needle did not lift off. ruined. oh, well................
  20. From the album: 2015/16 winter pots

some came off easily and the rest fought all the way.

this pot was put on a shelf to dry a little so i could remove the leaves that i had just covered with slip. i usually get the leaves uncovered right away but that was a bad day and the pot just got pushed to the back of the shelf and i missed it. so, always willing to experiment, i bisque fired the pot with the leaves still in place. IT WORKED! i was able to needle the leaves off the pot and now i can glaze the whole thing in one color with the leaves distinctly different from the background. this is not something i will repeat with this type of leaf, it was a lot more work to get all the edges correct. much easier to lift the entire thing with a needle at the point where all the stems join. doing it when the pot is only damp is simple. if..............you remember to do it on time.
  22. From the album: 2015/16 winter pots

works for both butter dishes and cracker trays, my most popular items. the original is made of bisque, cone 04. it is large enough for me to make each impression just different enough that buyers cannot tell the item came from this "mold". hate that word, what would you call the original?
