terrim8 got a reaction from Pyewackette for a gallery image, Forest Picotee
I made a stamp of some trees, mixed it with a purchased tree stamp and poked a lot of holes in the porcelain. Wasn't sure how to spell the word Picotee- doesn't it need an accent over one of the e's? This one is my ode to xc skiing, when its snowing but very quiet- i.e. all you can hear are your skis in the snow.

terrim8 got a reaction from Pyewackette for a gallery image, covered Jar soda fired
Kevin's flashing slip and Gail Nichols soda slips and who knows what else- I have to start keeping better records. clay mix of H550 stoneware that fires white and H440 brown high temp. stoneware.

terrim8 got a reaction from Pyewackette for a gallery image, small footed tall-ish bowl with soda-shell debris beside it
The bit of pink flashing at the top was from some oribe in the kiln. Some mix of flashing slips??? The taco debris looks like a mineral depost of tuffa or something from a black smoker!

terrim8 reacted to Marcia Selsor for a gallery image, saggares5:3:18 #saggars,#clay, #lowfire, #contemporaryclay, #marciaselspr, #fuming
these were developed from an idea of using small tiles in a sagger with a pot. The byproduct was intriguing and this is the result for more finished pieces.

terrim8 got a reaction from oldlady for a gallery image, top cage assembled
Day 1. Start collecting parts for my new raku kiln. So far, instruction book, lots of wire & a burner w hose.
Day.2. Constructed basic cage frame, injured hand, took cage to a metal shop to make it sturdy & prettier! My hand doesn't look too pretty under this bandage but its just a scratch.
Day 3. Picked up cage frame & they did a nice job- look at those handles!

terrim8 reacted to glazenerd for a gallery image, Titanium, calcium, iron clay body
Blending various blends of raw clay to set levels of titanium, iron, and calcium. The goal was to produce purple in oxidation: without the use of stains. A band of rutile was placed in the center, and Temmoku glazed over.

One of my favourite pictures and I don't have it digitally anymore. This is from a paper copy I had on the wall.

terrim8 got a reaction from oldlady for a gallery image, Adding the soda tacos (or burritos)
Putting soda tacos into the side ports. We added quite a bit of the soda-ash-light,baking soda and calcite mix to this firing. Did i mention that it was -20 C out here yesterday, plus windchill? Not as cozy as my kiln at home but then again my kiln is not a soda kiln and Medalta is more than worth the drive and discomfort of January!

terrim8 got a reaction from Min for a gallery image, one of the black/white shades
It worked! The black even has some shadows- like a puppet show- have to come up with some different sorts of patterns to try next.
