three feet tall? wow WOW WOW! You have to stop saying you are not good at this stuff. you obviously are VERY good.
  5. michael cardew originated this bird. i went to Seth's in 2002 and saw it everywhere. was lucky enough to buy his sample at a workshop here. had to have it glaze fired and it came out with a clear gloss glaze not at all like the originals. have always loved the design, with the two birds, too. good job!
  6. nobody needs a definition of "having fun with clay" after seeing your work!

  9. From the album: glazed for blandy 2015

four foot long shelves supported on adjustable wire framework allows wind to pass through the display without knocking it down. can never trust the weather. this shelf support system has been through many high winds with no ill effects. neighboring displays have crashed to the ground because they resist the wind. tall pots on flimsy stands will go over, but not the entire 2 foot by 4 foot unit. shelves are 12, 16 and 20 inches wide by 4 feet. cut from half a 3/4 inch sheet of birch plywood. they will be painted white this year. i have 4 of these, giving me 48 linear feet of shelving from 12 to 20 inches wide. lots of space. wish it were higher.

this glaze was reviewed by an expert who said it is a strange recipe with almost no clay. it is a cordovan leather color in my opinion.

touching up color where too thin or where it disappeared in the firing. refired to cone 6 in a cool spot to avoid cracking. cannot get the final glazed pot to post here. computer threw up its hands and screamed ENOUGH when i tried. i had only been trying for several hours. the whole thing froze up and nothing would work for over 25 minutes. it is now 12:58 am. good night all. tried again next day. got it to post in only an hour or so of fighting. final peaches is the name it is under.
  18. From the album: platter with peaches, 2009?

slip and underglaze to give color to the fruit and rim, washed with red iron oxide. peaches covered with weighted craft foam cut to fit fruit shapes. glaze sprayed over all. fired to cone 6. some colors washed out or were too thinly applied so a second firing was necessary to complete the piece.
  19. From the album: platter with peaches, 2009?

inspired by card purchased at the Ashmolean museum in london. rim of wood-like branches done with red iron oxide. clay is little loafers. size aprox 18 in.
  20. saw this done in england, the potters were dressed like astronauts. serious protection needed. they put the pots onthe ground on old kiln shelves, sprayed the chemical and quickly put a bucket on top. then they added ashes all around the metal bucket to prevent smoke. gorgeous results, check out Eeles family pottery.
