Mark C.
Well if you want to feel like you are older than clay do an art show consecutively for 42 years. This is our annual big event in our small town (15K). It's more than an art show really its an event for all-Samba Parade all species day parade-kinetic sculptures-music-food. Folks come from all over to this event, as it’s a long-standing bunch of fun. This show is one of the best energy wise (public fun) I do. You can see past events here. http://sameoldpeople.org It’s my 42nd year as I started doing this in collage the 1st year it happened. Now I’m a board member as one of the same old people a non-profit group who does the show and an artist at show. I'll try to take a few photos this year. flowerdry
Doing the same show for 42 years is sure hard to imagine Mark. I had hoped to catch you at Earth Day in Davis this year (my alma mater) but my trip got moved. Maybe someday I'll catch this one. Are you trying for 50? Mark C.
Here's my set up from this past weekend sales table at 8 am and booth almost ready to go.This paper roll starts out ugly and after a hour gets to the nice part. I have a corner and get to stretch a bit with the booth. later in day this booth is a mob scene. Mark
Mark C.
The weather was perfect and the Samba parade at 1 pm Saturday which brings in huge crowds-this bock long parade goes around the plaza once -takes about 1 hour.Lots of dancers of all ages and a huge band. Mark C.
Sunday is the all spices day parade at one-great weather as well. this was one of my best sales years at this show-my best single day on Saturday-Sunday a bit slower but solid. I had a customer that takes his vacation every year for the past 16 years to make this event-he lives 6 hours away. There is nothing like this event to compare it to-very high energy. Mark C.
The avatar is one of 3 salted demon dogs that are over my entry gate to the house. You walk under them to go thru the gate-They are screwed to a 4x4 up high over gate. I'm sure I could sell them but I made them to keep. Much of my salt work is not for sale. When you make so much for sale as I do keeping things is rare but salt work is mostly for me. Heres a few dogs -they are about 1 foot tall.I will add that Clayton Bailey influenced me about 40 years ago and he has made many dogs in low fire tobacco spit glaze. If you do not know Clayton spend an hour checking out his stuff as his web site is a bomb. I have know Clayton a long time since the early 70's and his stuff is fantastic. He lives near some friends of mine. http://www.claytonbailey.com Mark

Mark Ok they are about 2 1/2 inches tall- I like to think of them out of scale

Maybe I'll do this fair next year... We are a bike friendly fair-Lots of bike racks-parking is great at 6.30 am when I got there.I know for the public its a long walk and this year on Saturday the turn out was the best ever. I think you should apply we need more clay in show. Mark
flowerdry
Mark, your Avatar does not do the demon dogs justice. They are fantastic and I'll bet they do a good job guarding the place.
