yappystudent got a reaction from Pyewackette for a gallery image, The fish is back
Not quite the first stage but the first stage in laying out the pieces. Clearly unglazed as yet.

Doll parts. Off-white clay with a yellow ochre pottery glaze. I was thinking about joining these to a driftwood and wire body for an uber primitive bit of mixed media figure sculpture.

First attempt at a free-standing sculpture. Cracks formed in firing. Didn't get body wall even thickness.

yappystudent got a reaction from Joseph Fireborn for a gallery image, Bonsai pots in use
Just to show I actually use some of the things I make for myself. That is an apple pip sprouting on the right! The left is red oxide under satin clear, over a red clay body, all low fired. BTW I collect moss and lichens to grow.

Very first batch of low fire clay pieces. All loaded onto a 5X5 inch kiln shelf. I have a Paragon SC2 kiln that I named Miss Piggy. I use it often to anneal steel rods for making stamps and I fire metal clay silver and bronze.
This first bisque firing was thrilling! 15 hours, very conservative ramp rate. Like the first time trying to dress a newborn, I was being super careful.

This piece was fired in the anagama kiln at the Sharon Art Center in NH. It is porcelain with a celedon glaze on the facial planes and a temmoku on the stamped area. The orange on the right side is on unglazed clay and is an attribute of the firing.

yappystudent got a reaction from Joseph Fireborn for a gallery image, Dante makes a small impression
More WIP. Some molds I made along with some random objects used for impressions, including a cameo of Dante. -The cup in the upper left is not my work btw.

yappystudent got a reaction from oldlady for a gallery image, Old Star Trek
Could this be a Lisa Larson figure? The original Star Trek series was filmed when her work was popular. Sorry for the lousy image.

Bit off more than I could chew, one fin popped off after another. Went for a swim in the scrap bucket. Will try again someday soon.

Some future earthy Christmas ornaments. Planning some simple pottery glazes in brown and white, and some maple leaves in bright underglazes.
