Throwing things in my mind, but my couch is so comfy I haven't gone to my studio to actually create them.

Draw them out! (:
-
First the ideas (couch time), then the "real thing" in the studio. Put a wooden board under the couch pillow??
-
Now if we can just find a way to sell these pots we make mentally ....

Waiting for leather hard so I can trim stuff...

I had thrown some pots and then came down with bronchitis the next day. I crept out and wrapped them up. Now I'm feeling better but I'm scared ....
-
Not sure how dry they've become in the past 10 days.
-
Hope the pots stayed wet and that you feel better Giselle

it is a great site!

Who do you follow?
-
Tons of people, but a few post more than others. Michael Kline, Adam Field, and Adriana Christianson do good scopes.

Hillbilly hosed off my clay clothes outside while pinned to my chain link fence today. I'm sure the neighbors were impressed.

Note to self, marry first, THEN hose off the girl!!!:-)
-
Not sure using the hose is "Hillbilly" enough. I think to be considered that, you have to wash them on the rocks near the Ol' Fishin' Hole...
-
Next time I will recruit a jug band to seranade e while I'm hosing.
-
sometimes, when I don't have time to actually work in the studio, I find myself wandering in there to stare at my finished greenware pieces or test tiles.
-
got some new shelves. every time I put one side together the other falls apart. I managed to walk away before throwing the pieces down the street!
-
my mugs were getting too dry to handle so I put them in my magic rehydration box. Now they are too wet to handle.
-
ugh not good- I use the zip lock tote boxes with a sealed lid.. I just mist a tad of water in them and my clay stays the same for literally months .. I guess you have potters plaster in yours?
-
So is your rehydration box the same as a wet box made with plaster? We had wet boxes at the college, but someone said that all the dried vessels put in there would not receive a handle without cracking around the handle. I've based my advice about rehydration
on their comments. :>( But thinking back 12 yrs., they did have sloppy techniques, which made our ideas clash.
-
No plaster. It's just an air tight Tupperware box I got from target.

doing a little bisque in my test kiln!
-
Working with clay has made me a hoarder. I am always thinking, I could use that in the studio, or I could make a tool out of that and I don't throw it away.

I am often asked why I didn't build a larger studio. I tell them I would just fill it with racks, and things that could be made into a tools.
-
My husband has given up trying to guess what is a potential art supply. It is OK to see possibilities for use with clay.
-
I'm glad I'm not the only one!
-
my mind wants me to make stuff but my body is refusing to move from the couch

Perpetual Motion may not be real, but Perpetual Non-Motion is very real...

A day off for rest is a good thing...but think how that clay feels: abandoned, missing the human touch, unwanted (is guilt working?)
-
Yes, I lovingly fondled the clay for 5 hours today, not in a dirty way....well the clay was dirty but...you know what I mean

I've already fired kilns 3 times this year. Usually bisque twice and glaze twice per year and that's it. I'm cranking stuff out this year!'.

Carving words on pots. That's new for me. Can't use white out on my mistakes though!
-
I draw/ write on printer paper first, that is roughly the size of my ware. I then lay it on the ware, and trace over the drawings on the paper, with a dull pencil or pen. It leaves a small indent, that can be easily smoothed. If it looks good, I go ahead with the actual carving.
-
That's pretty much exactly what I did

At some point in the day I will throw some cups! Yes, it's going to happen!
