oldlady got a reaction from rayaldridge for a gallery image, platter with peaches
touching up color where too thin or where it disappeared in the firing. refired to cone 6 in a cool spot to avoid cracking.
cannot get the final glazed pot to post here. computer threw up its hands and screamed ENOUGH when i tried. i had only been trying for several hours. the whole thing froze up and nothing would work for over 25 minutes. it is now 12:58 am. good night all. tried again next day. got it to post in only an hour or so of fighting. final peaches is the name it is under.

oldlady got a reaction from GiselleNo5 for a gallery image, 001
slab pots made spring, 2015 in fl. after drying, i rub off that high spot showing around the biggest leaf in the nearest pot so it does not form a sharp edge after glazing. it could cut your finger if you leave it. middle pot is done with ferns that insist on growing through the fence. handles made from strips with fork drawn grooves. dragonfly in foreground shows the "holes" made for stringing the metal jewelry piece i modified. they have since been removed.

oldlady reacted to Cavy Fire Studios for a gallery image, Sgraffito Eastern Dragon Bowl
This bowl was a process, to say the least. I threw it with whiteware clay, messed with the rim, and covered it completely with black slip. Then, I carved the dragon. I bisqued it, and since carving all those scales took away all of my sanity, I underglazed color onto the bisque, and re-bisqued it. Covered in shiny clear and fired to ^04. Dang thing had little crawl spots, grrr...re-fired to ^03 after adding a bit more glaze to the bald spots. VoÃla! Sold it a few years ago for a stupidly low $150... *facepalm* I'dve charged four times that if I was thinking straight. Live and learn!

oldlady reacted to rayaldridge for a gallery image, Cats Drinking Porcelain
I'm not really a cat person, but I chose to work with the basic shape because cats are far less variable in form than dogs and are thus more universally recognized, if that makes any sense. These images are developed using cut-out resists, colored slips, and sgraffito on porcelain.
