in Wyoming.52 degrees at 5:30 am. Unlike the tropics of Texas. Great to be in the Western landscape. We'll be in Montana by noon!
-
thanks for reminding me, lol. About Texas. I need a bigger AC. The drywall I added did bring down the temp by 10 degree. When I get more moola I plane to blow some installation up there. Stay cool.

-
beautiful tile result.
-

Had a great time with my old friend and new friend from the forum at Home Slice Pizza. Talked raku and went to look at Laurene's beautiful raku pots from France and her recents tests. Fun evening in Austin.

Thank you both. I enjoy playing with seaweed, copper wool, and chips of hard wood in with the sawdust.

Whow! Humbling! Inspiring!

Monterrey, MX is 200 miles from my house in Brownsville Tx. I think it is more likely the chemicals from factories in Matamoros.
-
I think what JT said is right: you have a highly acid environment. Sulfur/ salt, and God knows what else. Time to move.
-
I couldn't agree more.
-
Obvara will be ready on Friday. May have to do a pre-dawn firing to avoid meltdown..of me!
-
glazing espresso cups today and then preparing raku slabs for glazing. Glazing is one of my least favorite things to do.

yes. I think that is why I've gone to terra sig lately.
-
I'm with you, Marcia. I have to force myself to get glazing done.
-
Guess I am the oddball: I have a very old brent whell out there I have turned on 3-4 times. Watching a wheel spin does not excite me.
-
my big oval is really well insulated. Took over 30 hours for the bisque to cool. but the fan was running and it comes on at 120 F.

so much nicer to fire in the winter, especially if its snowing outside & you can sit in the kiln shed with a nice cup of coffee!
-
agree totally!
-
My 6.5 top loader is custom built 3" brick and 2" fiber. Anymore I just turn it off when done firing and check it two days later.
-
Fired bisque with slabs and tiles for raku. I need to fire before going back to Montana. Hope it will get cooler. Lows overnight are still in the 80s. May be doing night raku firings.
-
Love Montana. Didn't settle on the house in question, but we're going back together in a few weeks.
-
leaving tomorrow at 5 am to check out a potential retirement home in Montana for my husband and me. Studio space, kiln space and mountains! My friends have me covered for p/u at airport, drive to town, stay with friends. I love Montana!

It is too hot here. Can't function in this extreme heat. Nothing like a blast of cold to invigorate!
-
I just did the math and Billings is almost 1300,00 miles from me about the same as Tempe AZ .Its just a long ways-I always thought about a summer art show there

What? And give up all this South Texas weather.

Can we buy this too in Europe? What would be an equivalent?
-
I can't say Evelyne. I notice that each porcelain has its own response to crackling surfaces. You'd have to experiment.
-
Marcia, have you thrown some of your large forms with the Nara5?

welp. did my grilling for the holiday. yum yum.
-
Went shopping today and I felt like I was grilled. If you like grilling and being grilled approximately 8 to 10 months a years, then South Texas is the place to be. It doesn't get cold for long here.
-
I think our last frost lasted 3-4 hours.-several years ago.
-
slow day on the forum. I have done more messaging today than ever before.

The weatherman's muggy meter is up there this week. I'd really like to do some firings but it is too hot. Now working on obligations to requests.

I put a video of some Korean carving and Buncheong process in the Buncheong thread. Always fun to watch a master at work. Has anyone seen this?
