got my last heater installed. My studio feels great. No noise, drafts, just warm air. Clay won't freeze unless I lose power. And I have a kerosene heater to back it up.
-
got my pieces fired but had to get propane. First supplier was out of gas. Second one filled up all 4 of my 30 gallon tanks. Only dropped 500 degrees while I was filling up the tanks. Got the pieces I need for the Yellowstone Art Museum.

Got my slab roller together this evening. Lots of snow to shovel this morning..5"
-
Got Obvara firing done ..5 batches and some nice pieces. Lost a few due to dropping. Klutzy day.
-
You are so productive Marcia. Congrats on the good pieces. Sorry for the dropped ones..
-
Sorry that you lost a few. My track record on glaze firing is pretty good...on bisque handling, not so much (abysmal may be the word I'm seeking). Can't wait to see your pictures, Marcia.
-
The intense steam inside my kiln shed, blinded me. And the obvara is slippery. I was using new cooking tongs and they didn't grip. Not really a good solo operation.

Got rid of 2 rubbermaid storage containers of porcelain, plus boxed raku clay and Armadillo porcelain. I have clay waiting for me in red Lodge, so I don't need to take more 1800 miles. Moving sucks.

We moved 10 years ago, moved all of the boxes, clothes and small stuff ourselves. Hired mover for the large stuff. We had a 3 story house plus a basement where my studio was located. Best money ever spent.
-
so, are you doing all the unpacking also while your hubby is at your old place?
-
Moving does suck, which I why I told the wife to bury me in the backyard. I ain't moving again!!!!

got rid of about 600 pounds of clay and glaze chemicals. Another friend coming by tomorrow for porcelain and more clay and glaze chemicals ware boards, etc. Starting to arrange boxes for loading the truck in 3 weeks.
-
Got some great pieces fired yesterday. still have some gas left. May get some more firings in the smaller kiln. I have to tear down my top hat to make way to move my big oval. Will post some results later.
-
Got the cables replaced on my raku kiln. used a lubricant and a makeshift clothesline separator to keep the cables from twisting. All is well and super smooth. One hand can easily life the kiln chamber with the counterweight.
-
got the last pegboard up. Mounted my extruder. Dropped off boxes, plastic and metal at recycling. had some water leak into the kiln shed floor. Snow mounds are still melting a lot. I think I will solve that problems as soon as it warms up.
-
got the shop lights installed today. All but one. missing hardware. But the light is great.

Got two

Great bird watching in the back yard: Osprey, Anhinga, Egrets, three types of heron, Rosiette Spoonbill, and Ibis, Green-winged Teals, Coots, Cormorants. All this is very distracting but exciting to watch.

Looks super cold up north, below 0 numbers for the upper states. Too cold for me. I am fleeing Georgia and moving further south to Florida at the first chance I get. I can't stand freezing cold. I couldn't imagine being up north.

I've been feeding the birds and getting mostly house sparrows, about 20-50 a day. Also some green jay, cardinals, kisskadees, golden fronted woodpeckers, grackles, morning doves, titmouse. Hoping for some, hummingbirds, warblers and finch soon. I bet you get a lot of Caracara down in your next of south Texas Marcia.

Pea green with envy, Marcia! But, spring will be here before I know it. For the moment, I'm perfectly content with my little flock of chickens. <3

faceted, beaten, sodium silicate heated on surface, then thrown from the inside only. Interesting. My physicist husband is intrigued by the surface behavior of the clay.
-
Wow, a lot goes into that surface, but it's worth it.
-
Awesome, you threw those thick. Cant wait to see them fired, you inspire me so i have to get our Raku kiln done.. damn cold weather is killing me...
-
great day in the studio. Ceramic heaters on while my garden survived the cold and hail.
