ronfire
Was wondering about this wheel, found one used here in BC Canada for $650. Would like a VL Whisper but they are over $2,000 here . What to look for in problems, are they worth buying?. Pros/Cons? Thanks.
liambesaw
Rk2 are good little machines, but you'll have to pray to the kiln gods that it doesn't break down because they won't make any parts for it anymore.
neilestrick
That price is too high IMO for an old used RK-2. Like Liam said, they are tough wheels that last a long time, but they don't have the smooth pedal control of a more modern wheel.

Roberta12
I bought a used RK2 a few years ago. $150. We put some work into it. New plug, cleaned it up. Works great, just a bit noisy. It's a good spare. Roberta
Benzine
I have one in my classroom, and it's the best wheel we have. It's a real workhorse, and has tolerated probably about thirty years of teenagers, which says a lot. That is too high of a price, for sure. I've noticed that a lot of people over price wheels and kilns, when selling them. They apparently think they are sitting on something rare, or are using the price that a new one would go for. If you can get it for a cheaper price, I'd go for it, otherwise, pass.
ronfire
Thanks, was thinking I might try a ridiculous low offer and see what happens. Everyone wants a fortune for used wheels in BC. Might be worth a try as I am using an Estrin powered kick wheel now.
Min
@ronfire, you could try posting that you are looking for a used wheel in the forum Community Marketplace. Might be someone with one for sale in BC. I know there is someone in Mission BC with those wheels for sale and I believe she is asking about the same price. liambesaw
If you want to drive down to Seattle I know where you can pick up an old RK-2 for less lol. It's a little dirty but if your lower offer doesn't pan out, maybe take a weekend and visit the outlet malls and load up on Costco milk and pick up a functional rk-2 with splash pan. Might even consider sponging it down!
