Mark_H reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Safari Mug Set
Another winning combo of glazes. I mixed a ton of iron filings into our recycled clay and put two glazes on the mug to re-create a safari/leopard/Savannah type look. The larger of the two is my personal favorite of all the pieces that came out of the kiln, the red drip is very appealing to me. There are three mugs in this set, I forgot to photograph the third. I also did a set of smaller espresso mugs in the opposite combo, red all over with the oatmeal glaze on the lip. Those came out great as well.

Mark_H reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Tenmoku and blue chun bowls in b-mix ^6 reduction
My set of matching b-mix tenmoku and blue chun bowls. Really light, will be great for condiments or rice bowls (the big one will be for my rice, lol).

Mark_H reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Blue chun and Tenmoku bowls plus Lynn's Turquoise Brushed Platter
Unfortunately the students loading all of my slab work thought they were cookies and handled them with no care, all have cracked to some degree.... I did not brush enough glaze on the platter, and the form needs to be refined, but I learned a lot about the process.

Mark_H reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Oatmeal and Oxblood Reduction
We borrowed our friend's light-box this weekend and went to town! This is an oatmeal and reduction red called oxblood on a heavy iron-filing filled recycled clay body. Cone 6 reduction. I am not sure about the thumb rest myself, but people seem to love it and are requesting more!

Mark_H reacted to SydneyGee for a gallery image, Flambe blue and golden raisin b-mix bowl ^6 recution
I had forgotten about this bowl, it was one of my first larger bowls thus a little heavy. I love the flecks that Flambe blue makes. Sometimes it is red, sometimes blue, sometimes purple depending on where in the kiln it is.

Mark_H reacted to ZAN Ceramics for a gallery image, Bark inspired, vase pairing
I'm obsessed with organic textures, this glaze finish was inspired by actual tree bark, from a tree outside my studio.

Mark_H reacted to ZAN Ceramics for a gallery image, Detail of bark inspired vase and glaze
This image shows the actual tree bark beside the glaze that emulates it, I think I'm almost there!
