  1. From the album: California Wildflowers

I carved and underglazed the green portions of the hummingbird at leather hard. Then after bisque firing I came back and added tiny details on the wings and chest with iron oxide. I then covered that with a thin coat of two colors of glaze to get the gray/brown hummingbird plumage. It came out just as I'd hoped. For once.

It's Speckled Buff from Laguna, which has been formulated to mimic naturally occurring clay deposits found in the East.

  7. Throwing tomorrow for the first time in months. I want to make a million things but I'm going to keep it small so I don't overdo it. So excited!!

Breathe in, breathe out. And start. You will do just fine. I have no doubt you will be happy at the end of a good productive day.

Instead of throwing yesterday I hung shelves and moved furniture in my son's room. (??) So I am throwing today. I'm very excited. We broke our last mass produced bowl and I REFUSE to buy more so that is going to happen first today. I'm not going to do a crazy amount of finish work so I can make four of them without causing myself any issues later in the week.

  19. Currently on my third cold in six weeks. Seriously. Just as I am getting over one, I get hit with another while my immune system is low. I want a plastic bubble.

I will keep an eye on it though. So far this last one is the only one that has had us coughing, the other two were just runny nose and sore throat. No fevers or anything serious. Just intensely annoying.

Aaaand you lost all sympathy. ;) That sounds so awesome. My brother-in-law does surf fishing and ever since I had his fresh perch tacos I have never felt the same about store bought fish ever again.

Despite the cold nights, our fig tree has come out in full leaf. :)

  21. Very lovely texture!! I am very tactile so I wish I could pick them up.
  22. That (shino?) glaze you used is perfect!!
  23. :) Thank you! I think of flowers, and rays of the sun, when I make these.
