I have been teaching myself to use less water. I set out one cup of water to throw 3-5lbs of porcelain. It forces you to use less water.
-
Going with the original question .. which Laguna clay are you trying to get translucent?? Not all Cone 5/6 porcelain will be no matter how you fire them.
-
Chris, TBH, I don't remember. I had thrown the box away and without thinking about what clay it was. I know it was porcelain because I maked it on the bag that I had soaked in a 5 gal bucket. Mystery Porcelain:P. I like working with it. I get my clay from either, http://www.roadrunnerceramics.com/ in San Antonio or http://www.armadilloclay.com/ in Austin, Tx. This clay has some translucency in some parts. I would love a recommendation.

I will be praying for our friend Evelyne Schoenmann. She will be going in for surgery in a couple of days. Please wish her well. This is just a note. Please write to her, not me.
-
Hey Marko (blushing), you are such a kind friend! People write me emails and p.m.'s to wish me luck for the surgery. With so many friends thinking of me, nothing can go wrong. Thank you from all my heart!!

I am glad. You are a wonderful person. I am so glad they are writing you. I will be looking forward to your full recovery. Sending you more blessing than you need. You can always share the leftovers when you get better.

Thank you! I just p.m.'d you. HUGS

It's been wet, hot and humid here lately. And very little wind to cool down with. I got my fan and an exhaust ceiling fan going and it still get around 90 degrees. But I plan to make some more mugs and fire a small load starting tomorrow evening. When it is cooler. How's your weather?

glazenerd, you're right about looking at other artist. And I did see a post here that led me to learn about Rick Hintze. I love his work. But I am always afraid of doing work like someone else. I feel guilty. And have you been to Joseph's website. He has such a gift. I love how he has come along and made great progress in glaze and pottery style of his own. He must have some Japanese potter blood. Inspired.

alabama, yup, I'm going this way then that way. My noodles have been fried and MIA. But I hear you and Giselle. I do need to make notes and settle on one thing at a time. I guess it would be better to do a lot of one thing, than a whole lot of nothing. Thanks.
-
But one thing is for sure. I'm happy to have friends like you all. Thanks everyone for the support. A kick in my potty pants might help.

Losing heat. My lid has gaps. Any suggestions?

Man, did you know that uncooked corn on the cob is so good? I love it. No salt or butter needed. Very sweet yellow organic corn. Yum.

My son bought a broken one at the DAV and fixed it. Wore it out and fixed it again. Then it was broken in a move and he had to fix it again. They took it to the remote island they live on so they can print our anything they need.

Smart kid.

3d printers are so awesome. My son wants one so bad. Hope it goes well for your mark.

I threw some pots today, but I didn't push it. I had soreness, and now it's throbbing. I wanted to catch up here so I'll just ice it in a little bit. Thanks all. Never been to a raku in the tropics, but wouldn't it be lovely?
-
Get well soon Marko. Is it helping though, the shot? In 3 days I have to do carpal tunnel surgery. Think of me please.
-
Thank you Evelyne, today I am feeling much better. And I will think health and healing thoughts for you in my meditation. I know you will do well and you will be making many more wonderful artworks. I know it will be difficult, but you are a strong person and recovery will be easy for you. Just take it easy on yourself. Marko

Thanks Evelyne, it was corticosteroid. No surgery need yet. My PA said it's at an early stage, so will just monitor it for now, with some follow ups. The pains not to bad.
-
Glad you got some relief.
-
Thanks Marcia. It still gets numb at times, but the pain has subsided. Amen!

Yay, I went to my first craft market today. My wife and I had a great time. There was only about 15 vendors, but I was the only potter. I sold almost everything and even got some commissions. I want to thank you all, for your kindness, acceptance and support. Along with all your great advice I was able to feel confident that I could do this. It wasn't about the money, but it was ok, but just knowing that I have friendships that care about me, makes me a millionair. I couldn't have don...
